I waited so much for this game man. It was so cruel. I was so, so, so hype. Like I've never was for any game before. I watched all trailers at least 100+ times, discussed theories, browsed forums for hours, hoping this would be the best game EVER. Even bought a PS4 and preordered the Limited Edition.
And it was easily one of the worst games I played in the last 5 years. Even Ground Zeroes was better.
Sometimes I come to /v/, looking for fellas to share my pain, but I can't tolerate TPP discussions anymore, the mere existence of people that think it was a good game, even with the argument "lol it was a good game, it was just not a good mgs game xD" or those who think gameplay was good even if all the missions were the same, that kind of people makes me feel very bad. Maybe I am jealous because they are (caution: fedora incoming) dumb enough to enjoy that piece of shit and I expected too much from a videogame.
After I finished it, I was sad for weeks. My girlfriend knew how disappointed I was, and she tried to cheer my up with no success.
Now I unironically cannot expect anything, I've become incredibly bitter towards expectations and videogames, I don't think anything good will be released again. It crushed my soul.
Anyway I doubt anyone will read this, so have a picture of me at the range.

and in terms of failure, this wasn't nearly as bad as Mass Effect 3, where the devs themselves chose to effectively ruin their own game(s)
With MGSV the developers were forced to quit the project and round it off the as best they could - which they succeeded in more than not, giving the biggest plot threads a conclusion. Yeah, it sucks that we didn't get to fight kid liquid on lord of the flies island, but the actual battle probably wouldn't have been that much different than the Sephalantropus fight after the jeep ride

I'm not the one you're replying to, but I don't either. I prefer the gameplay in the classic games so I will readily admit I am not the game's target audience. I would say the core design of MGSV is largely better than MGS3 and the stuff after it, though. The issue is that even if the game occasionally shines, its potential is squandered on bad level design and dull missions that only highlight balancing issues and the repetitious grind of Motherbase's management. I can easily see why people would find MGS3 more compelling, or even MGS4's better parts.

Cut content is not my problem. The game sucked for many other reasons. The story was retarded, there was barely any character development or any of the premises that were promised in the trailers. Like, where the fuck was the revenge? The plot was so dumb.

Gameplay is not only how your fucking character moves. Yeah, Snake moves nicely and all but, I am sorry to disappoint you; that's not gameplay. We are talking about the whole here, what's so good about having one million technologies to develop if you don't need or don't really use them at all? When the story and the missions constrain you in such a way that you are forced to follow a meta. Of course you can deviate from that and do random shit to upload to your Youtube channel or make your friends laugh at Twitch, but again, that's lazy development, it depends on your creativity to make the system fun. Here, go rescue soldier #3000. But hurrrrrrrr thanks god we have the best gameplay right? Now we can rescue the soldier using a box with THIS camo, also a modified gun that's the same as the original gun but it looks slighty different man!
