It's a hybrid of RPG, 3D Platformer, Minecraft and TPS action game with 1/3rd city builder. It has stats to put points into, half randomly generated 3D playgrounds and enemies to kill with weapons.

As I understand, this is a REAL ass beta and not just a glorified demo.
In fact it says in the store, it literally might just not work sometimes, so these issues might be attributed to that.

Sony make so many good games like this, as in low to mid tier releases, but literally send them out to die every single time.

I remember watching JPN streamers on twitch forever ago.
Looked really weird and interesting.
Like the world itself was very empty, asides from your little city.
Monsters come and attack the city, which you defend with robots and such.
The city's surrounded by like water, and you can take boats out.
There's little islands and stuff that you can dig and mine on.
Felt really eerie.
Sony knows this won't sell, but they make it anyway, why?
It might be good but it won't sell, there's no market for these type of games unless they are pushed as the greatest indie on PC by game journos. So few people on Playstation will play and buy this

Played a few hours this morning here's a basic heads up.
If you see a high pop server with low tech/building numbers don't enter it, basically its a big cluster fuck of everyone trying to do their own thing so fuck all useful gets built.
Sweet jesus use mined metal to upgrade the town hall after the base of it has been built you need to upgrade it to get more player houses/stuff.
Buy a shotgun from the Freedom vendor ASAP if you end up with shitloads of the black flies that attack and your turrets are close to the side of buildings you just get eaten as you wont have line of sight to shoot half the time, use the shooty.
The jetpack you get mean you can actually fly to one of the void island if the bus is going to a different one, just dont fly really high as its splatzville if you fall more than 50ft.
As soon as it get dark take a turn on the generator trademills, if you run outta power in the night you be fucked yo'
Plant some trees at the back of the town away from the bus-stop town hall and workbench areas. Plant them in the open and fuckwits will chop them down every 2 seconds.
You need to MAKE ammo for the turrets but you need a police station first, dont build 10 turrets, then run outta metal to make anything else, making ammo takes a few seconds, mining takes minutes!

Not him but I just dont want Sony loosing money all the time trying to help these smaller teams and projects. Even if the gameplay is rock solid the graphical/artstyle is a straight up hard sell and its what immediately greets the player and give them an impression of the game.

Odd to be perfectly frank.
The basic plot is something went massively wrong and virtually all the world was reduced to a blank slate, a few survivors from a russia-ish civilisation start rebuilding the world by hacking out pieces of the old world from the void that surrounds each town.
I think it's a good idea, but preventing each town from ending up a big mess is going to be the challenge and keeping things balanced so established town dont steamroller everything.

Well I've only played a few hours but I've seen shitloads of clothing accessories ( hats etc ),
and various uniforms to unlock, currently rocking the boss full red steampunk miners outfit,
As for changing the actual girl you play? dunno, though this is a beta for stress testing and making sure things work in the world correctly so i wouldnt be suprised if there was the option on release.
But when you mine/ harvest things out in the void you physically remove if from the area and take it back to town, so if you go to a site thats been heavily worked it will literally just be a bit of gravel left over in the middle of nothingness.

After you have mined metal ( the copper coloured orbs ), if you go around the back of the pillar in the middle of the town hall building there will be a open hatch. when you get close it will ask you to " deposit " the metal you are holding.
Just keep on it until its done.

The thing about Sony is that not every game they publish is expected to be a blockbuster, Japan Studio in particular is prone to making experimental games without a clear mass market strategy, and they're co developing this game.
