Lmao what same areas over and over again? In FFXIV's main story you just do quests in one zone, get to a certain level, and move to the next zone. There's no going back a zone unless you want to do side quests. Every dungeon and optional dungeon is different, even the hard mode dungeons are very different not just tweaked enemies.

Once you hit 50 you do the patched MSQ's (that are going back to some zones) then you go to HW, which are new zones. Then you have the patched MSQ's after you hit 60 and repeat zones.
I thought you meant the base game without patches you still go back to old zones, which you really don't. Otherwise with patches you are right I did ruin my statement.

Then, apparently it only counts if you're fighting something.
Then it's only counting the 'base game' without patches? Yeah, right. As long as we ignore 30% of the MSQ added with patches, and quests where you don't kill things, then you -rarely- have to ever return back to a zone you were already at, despite that being the vast, vast majority of the game.
