Michael acting and writing was 9/10, pretty good for a vidya, Trevor's acting was 8/10, good for the type of vidya but could have been made better, Franklin's was a 6/10, 7/10 if we're being nice, he underperforms and it's even more noticeable when around the other two character.

the main conflict in the game is because michael fucked up and had to fall back into a life of crime.
franklin hardly does anything besides merely show up to help out on some missions once trevor is introduced.

I think what a lot of people fail to understand is that the three characters represented different titles in the GTA series.
Trevor represents GTA1/2/1969. Michael represents 3/VC.

Something I came up with, but it makes perfect sense.
Trevor's insane and has killstreaks and thrives on mayhem. He's the most video gamey character.
Michael's all about mob connections, doing hits and setting up jobs, living the rich life, more realistic than Trevor but not as much as Franklin.
Franklin's all about family and the hood, as well as having to make serious decisions that end up in choosing who Fies at the end of the game, just like in IV with Roman and his fiancee.
