PC version is definitive. It's good, but don't go in expecting the fact that it's originally a psp game to be well disguised. Enjoy it for what by series standards is pretty good gameplay and a decent challenge setup.
You can also emulate the psp version, but the ps4/pc port was tweaked in a few areas to make it a less tedious experience.
Eight is best and most fun.

I only played the psp version though, I have the PS4 one lying around but the dub and motion blur and such made me not play it. Got it for the XV demo.
Had a lot of fun taking out those blatantly over leveled monsters they hide around, like a level 50 behemoth while you're 20. Can be taken out with perfect dodge and weak spotting.
Eidolons are great because they're fun to use though. But the strategy parts suck, they're either too hard or too easy.

I dunno, but the dub is shit and the psp fansub is better and I don't feel like catching up to my old save. If I play the ps4 ver it's to get the multiplayer reward stuff like Tornado and Meteor or whatever.

Yes, they patched it to make the camera a little more comfortable and reduced the motion blur at the same time, but it wasn't disabled entirely like the PC version lets you.

Wildfire stance lets you handle almost everything, including some ranged and flying targets. You can then spend his second slot on a spell or one of his other ridiculous tricks like teleporting or absolute invincibility (which is great if you want a perfect grade for Judecca). You do need to practice timing to hit killsights though. He's so fast it's easy to pre-empt them or dodge and miss the window.
At higher levels he also has one of the best magic cancels.
