RS3+translation is actually best place to start if you ask me, unless you can't stand old snes games or something

Minstrel's Song is great though, and a remake of the first game. But playing them in order isn't important.

Can't say much for RS2, waiting for that localized Vita version that SE confirmed they're working on so I don't have to play it on mobile (never had a fantranslation)
