The Bethesda workshop arrived on PC, too.
That's why Bethesda could release their first statistics for that (with both consoles leading).
Console players used this as some sort of message that "mods work better on consoles" although the whole reason is pretty simple: PC players generally don't download mods through the workshop but Nexusmods instead, making Bethesda's modding statistics useless.

The one essential mod would be the Full Dialogue Interface. I will never play without it.
Besides that, I recommend the Expanded Ballistic Weave mod, but just because it gives you more freedom playing dress-up.

There is one mod I really like. But it kinda requires money, go to steam and click on a box take you to the page and click on the green box and go through the process, after should download.
Best thing you can do this with console, requires a third party so go to game store and tell them OP's question and they hook you up.
