Ending in 999 changes depending on which combination of doors you go through. I suggest you do whatever you feel like on a first run and then consult an online flowchart since it might get a little tiring otherwise to replay the same stuff until you get it right. VLR doesn't have this issue because you can go back to any scene you've previously played at any time and pick different choices.
