So I replay all the Metroid games regularly. Prime 3 is the current one. I figured I'd play on Hyper difficulty since I hadn't done that before.
Jesus Christ, how fucking awful. I know Prime 3 was the most like a shooter of the three, but putting it on Hyper makes it a full blown FPS. It is fucking excruciating to get anything done unless you use hyper mode for every single encounter to negate the enemies' hyper mode.
As a fucking test, I let a crawltank enter hyper mode. I think it took 12 charge shots instead of the usual one. Missiles are shit other than their homing because they won't freeze a god damn thing, but you're stuck using them all up in two seconds anyway because if you stop for one second to aim at a pirate then one of it's single pellet shots will graze your shoulder for three energy tanks worth of damage.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in hyper difficulty is a blatant example of poor difficulty adjustment, specifically for the insane sponginess of enemies.

Most games do hard difficulty wrong. I've made it a mission to play games on "normal" because that's usually how the games were designed to be played. I wish they would stop including difficulty modes altogether if they don't know how to program them.

I have never played the prime trilogy, but was thinking of emulating the wii version with m&kb. I read there are higher difficulties to unlock (which I fucking hate games doing, give me everything from the beginning!). Is it worth downloading a save file from some rom site and playing the hardest difficulty or does the game just buff damage and health of enemies (aka the laziest fucking way to increase difficulty).
