I'd argue that Crash 1 hasn't aged too well. The other ones hold up from what I can remember.

that implies it wasn't shit in the first place

and they play good.
though the save system in the first one is bad

People will likely base their opinion on the version of Crash Bandicoot found in Uncharted 4. It's a terrible imitation of the original game. None of the mechanics work as they did in the original. They dun fucked it up.

Cant think of a 360/PS3-era game that aged worse than this

>graphics are straight up repulsive, both too much bloom and too much darkness so everything looks like shit
>big city but fucking nothing to do in it, obviously just meant to show they could create a large detailed area but didn't care about interactivity
>awful driving physics
>unpolished details all over the place, like the taxi driver often gets stuck, or the car you save in the parking space sometimes just disappears
>garbage wanted level system

V is a pretty casualized game but at least its polished and playable.

Actually one of the best aged games of all time. 8 years old and still has better technology, story, atmosphere, etc. Than almost every single game today. This could be 10 years old and still pass/be impressive.

It might have set a new graphical standard back in it's hey day, but this game looks ugly as sin. Core gameplay isn't bad, just thoroughly unremarkable and standard turn based JRPG fare. Not being able to skip cutscenes is also a common pet peeve of mine with older games.

Gameplay is the best in series so I hope your tranny ass didnt meant gameplay

True ugly as fuck, that said gameplay is still ok and it gives you the sense of adventure and wonder, it might not look impressive but the concepts still are awesome

>>339822157
This, some psx games did really well thanks to relying more on the art style than accurate depiction of reality.
Spyro and Crash still look good, colourful and fun.

Phantasy Star Online.

I love the game. I go back to play it every once in awhile. It is loaded with flaws and extremely strange design choices.

This one isn't graphics or gameplay, it's the fucking sounds.

I'VE GOT THE SKILLS TO PLAY THE BILLS YO

The original SSX aged much better. On tour aged okay I guess.

Fuck, I spent thousands of hours on this when it came out. Yesterday I tried to go back and I was so shocked at how clunky it was I didn't even get past Forest 1 before I quit.

>graphics that are ugly and scare you in the wrong ways.
>enemies that are all just aggressive animas that attack you the same way (only variations are size, health, and the damage they inflict on blow).
>controls are the greatest depths laggy and unresponsive.
>platforming sections that because of the controls are a nightmare to complete).

I've only played through the first two levels (also part of the third) and I can't understand why so many love this game to this day.
>>
>>339823293
>platforming sections that because of the controls are a nightmare to complete).
This part was just as true when the game was just released.
The best part of TR games for me was finding for a way to get from point A to point B by the means of timed switches, jumps, rolls and finger tips grabs.
Those dumb animals were actually great for building atmosphere and psx limitation and pitch black 30m ahead also contributed to TR games unintentionally being horror games.
Even Area 51 in TR3 felt like a horror game due to human enemies that never said anything, just charged at you with rectangular faces and lack of self preservation instinct.

Standards change, so do expectations, though it becomes rather irrelevant past a certain point (SNES and onward).

>gameplay doesn't age though
Technically it doesnt but if you go and try older games after playing anything modern, you will instantly notice that older games are plagued by myriad gameplay problems which were already solved long ago and in many cases, you didnt even know it was ever a problem.
A good example is aiming in FPS games, you go back to first MoH you will instantly notice that default button layout is awkward as fuck, I think you move and aim with the same analog stick.
For someone who played those games back in the days it was the best thing since it constantly improving upon older solutions, for someone who started his gaming career from PS3, some of the older games will feel like ugly, twitchy, clunky clusterfuck.
>>
>>339823748
I do agree that the puzzle sections were the best part of the game, not requiring tedious trial and error of pressing the buttons at the right time (platforming sections) or spamming the x button while the auto aim does all the work for you (shooting sections). I also can see how the animals could add to atmosphere but overall, I just believe that the game is too repetive and unintentionally too tedious.
>>
>>339812424

I used to think this, but having recently gone back I was surprised by how well designed the game world is especially.

Crash 1 still plays like a dream, Crash 2 to me feels like a cruel prank each level.
>>
>>339821909
I wouldn't say ''aged'' I would say excessively troublesome to play, with 2 being even worse.

all Zero Mission did was add a map system and more health pickups and the game got much easier.
