Big tip, Who you can connect with is based on your level, if you level high you can get high level invaders.
Also, don't level up for the sake of leveling up. Level up to meet the requirements of Weapons/Magic/Miracles.
Dont touch the luck stat at all unless you intend to plan your entire game around using the Blue blood sword.

Temple Knight is the best choice, actually. if you want to minmax, that is.
I find DeS a very technical game. I enjoy every consecutive run more than the previous one because I understand the game a bit better.
which is to say going blind is fun, but equipment require knowledge. it's pretty easy to accidentally gimp yourself.
Wanderer is always my favorite.
