I replayed it recently and it still holds up. I'm fine with the fact that we'll never get a remake, the artstyle and the music are part of the appeal for me and a remake would make both generic.
A re-release would have been nice though, it's weird that after all these years I would still need to run it on a sega cd emulator.

The facial animation is stiff and unnatural. I think it probably seems uncanny because of how nice the models are.

The Boss looks pretty bad because she looks sickly. The original boos looked extremely Anglo-Saxon/Germanic also.
Snake looks alright. The Cobras are also ok.
The mouth animations are poor, but that's expected. It's just a marketing trailer.
