I guess it's all relative to what you take from the lore. I personally loved scholar. Some enemy placements were wonky, but they were the same in the original. I feel like more enemies were in the right places playing scholar, plus you had an opportunity to get a lot more items than in the original, with the addition of ng+ enemies in the first cycle, and other enemies you couldn't normally farm. Champions covenant also prevents enemies from despawning after the 25 kills in scholar. I don't believe they fixed that in the original. I guess scholar forced you into a more linear path through the game, that would likely be my biggest downfall to it though. I quite enjoyed my time with it. Not quite as much as I'm enjoying das3 though :)

Supporting certain devs because they made a good game (ie stardew) easy patches and updates, games all in one place. I also hardy buy any games on release prices.
The last two games I can recall was gta v that I still waited until a $44 sale from somewhere and fallout 4 for $60 Aud which is only because I love fallout from 1&2. With the mess that fallout 4 is, it is the last fallout I will ever buy (yes also got season pass, too late to stop now) and will pirate any future fallouts and only buy goty editions once they hit $20-$30 on a sale. Bethesda is also at the point where I will most likely pirate their next elderscrolls also and only get goty ED on sale.
