The core game is solid, it simply doesn't suit many changes so milking it is all the more obvious, any small additions (that could easily be dlc etc) usually just fuck with the balance of the game, any bigger changes would completely alter the point of a Gears game, they have painted themselves into a corner, let the series die, move onto something new.

That's a really good thing, I mean, you wouldn't want it to be a remake of UT2k3? I think in terms of aesthetics, gears looks way too similar. UT4 is a drastic visual upgrade, I can tell "oh wow, next gen UT4" but I really couldnt' tell which gears multi was which between 3 judgment, and 4, unless you know "oh that's a new character."
I'm not saying its necessarily a bad thing, but it makes me go "huh?"

The problem was, that anon wasn't talking about aesthetics or graphics, he was complaining that all of the Gears games gameplay is too similar.
Whereas UT4 is pretty much UT99-2 and that's perfectly fine apparently.
