It's a really tough one for me. "Favorite game" is a very tricky thing, plus these two games are of entirely different genres, but as a kid these were by far the two games that I put the most time into on console and handheld respectively. I must have easily clocked over 30 playthroughs of S3K, all characters all Emeralds plus debug mode fuckery, and hundreds of hours on Pokemon Yellow. Technically my absolute childhood defining game was Pokemon Gold, the first game where I got hyped for pre-release, plus I was finally old enough to start appreciating the deeper mechanics of RPG's (inb4 "Pokemon has no deeper mechanics"), but that was technically the early 2000s by the time it reached Europe.
