Recently installed GMDX and I'm up to the end of the first NYC mission.

I know its been circlejerked to death on here but fuck me this game still holds up, and GMDX is pretty fucking good at ironing out the creases.

I loved HR but it just isn't the same, it has too many design choices that are too modern and sterilized for me, but it was still probably the best game of that year besides Dark Souls

>Helios ending
Democracy is a compromise of the worst of both sides. Vote absolute AI control in the coming elections.

>Illuminati ending

>Tong's ending
Wants small government, as in the government's size is conceivable by the people. By wiping out effective communication infrastructure, governments would be much smaller since they can't communicate over large areas.

There's also a brilliantly deep philosophical background. Like the consolidation of the economy into the hands of a few people, the increasing presence of a global government, government censorship and monitoring the Internet. The short summary is Deus Ex is about how a small group of people can govern a large body, and whether this is morally right. The best part is it's mostly true.
>>
>>339699810
>>339700015
A lot of it is actually true. Like the growing economic divide, the influence of corporations in governments, surveillance of communications and so on. Does anyone know if what Leo said about the trilateral commission and consolidation is true?

tong's ending was always so fascinating to me. like, in a way you would be going backwards in order to go forwards.

helios ending is the best one though. in fact i hope one day an ai like helios ends up governing the world. been a few years since i played but doesn't it say something about controlling society on both a macro (like economy) and micro (traffic lights) scale? i mean we're already seeing ai driven cars that are safer than cars actually driven by humans. if every car in a city was self driving, and every self driving car in a major city was connected to a 'governing' ai, then you could effectively see the end of traffic congestion and accidents.

love deus ex so much. really makes you think, unlike human revolution. don't really have any high hopes for mankind divided considering it's going the 'augmented apartheid' route, zzz

Yeah I can't wait for the Jews colluding with tech companies to ensure our enslavement under their Kosher AI that would be great.

Face it, humanity is so corrupt to the bone at this point that the evolution of tech only makes sure it's roots drive deeper into the heart of society. We see it in media and tech today, we saw it in finance last century, and we'll see it in chipping and governing AI's tomorrow.

I live in peace knowing a small group of people don't control an automated factory and sick their explosive quadrocopter legions on us yet this will be the future globalists choose in their part as useful idiots within the democratic system.

I like this mechanical apartheit as well, the dev's wanna hit home muh nigger racism, while it's literally just gun control 2060. Except the original programmers likely will make an AI benevolent. People with a shit ton of power tend to be philanthropists. IIRC 90% of billionaires donate to charity. When a person has everything a man would materially want, he tends to think of ideals and dreams. Like Daedalus was created to prevent disasters and identify terrorist groups. The AI won't suffer from the cognitive dissonance of its masters and turn on them.

I chose Helios because he was one of the few who actually helped me when he sends those bots. Everyone else is a colossal ass.

i learned this (i think) while playing today.
in alex jacobson's office you'll find a newspaper article that quotes a geneticist as saying the gray plague is 'almost extraterrestrial' in its composition.
you can take this in two directions -- firstly, that the aliens, named 'grays', are the source of the plague in that their DNA was sampled to create a deadly virus.
this could otherwise be interpreted as them being the product of the plague. i say this because in the MJ12 hell's kitchen secret lab you have ford schick, another geneticist/bioengineer, who claims that he was being forced to discover a way of implementing the gray plague such that it could successfully inhabit a human host, whom in this case are the homeless of the hell's kitchen segregated zone of NYC. the grays would thus be the human host in what could possibly be the late stages of the gray plague in the event of a successful implementation.
of course, i'm only in hell's kitchen at this point in this playthrough, and i missed so much in my last run that i can't claim any of it in this little theorycrafting piece. in fact, i missed the MJ12 secret lab here, and only came back to find the rubble of it later in the game. i do love the development and locations in deus ex. so good.

Sorry mate but the grays are genetically modified bovines. You'll find reports on this in Versalife in Hong Kong.

The conversations in Area 51 make it sound like they were cloned from the REAL aliens found at Roswell, mostly so they could operate the reactors reverse-engineered from the crash site that power the facility on an instinctive level, and the fact they played some sort of part in the plague after was a cherry on top

He's cynical, factual, loyal to his friends and family. Morally he's actually good, but a realist as well.

This. JC is not a deep character, but he does have personality and is memorable.
Deus Ex was never a character-driven game story-wise. It's plot- and world-driven.

I don't think the benefits can exceed the donation. Otherwise everyone would be donating all their money.
