Why did I instantly fall in love with TF2's character design, while Overwatch's heroes feel completely lifeless?
Help me, /v/. I'm trying to enjoy Overwatch's heroes outside of their abilities, and I just can't. The most I get from them is that Genji looks kinda cool.

I really wish I could enjoy TF2 more.
However the problem isnt with the game itself no its the community.

Overwatch has no style, no grace.

TF2 has cohesion in presentation, everything from the music, the background scenery, to the characters themselves all fit the 50's motif and make the game feel unified in its design choices (Excluding hats)
Overwatch is just a mishmash of things put together because they needed to use their assets for their failed MMO, so you have ninjas and cowboys and robots and whatever else all grouped together for a weak purpose that makes little sense when examined for more than a minute.
This mishmash is soley to hook casual onlookers to find at least ONE "cool" character they like in order to invest more time into the game, or give it a chance at all.

You fell in love with it because it was straightforward, coherent, and aesthetically pleasing, whereas Overwatch's characters are way too busy, inconsistent and pretty mediocre looking. Also, TF2 characters have much better writing and personality behind them which helps make them come to life more.
I've been playing OW for a few days and all it does is make me want to play TF2 again.

I like a lot of the character designs, but they don't have enough in common to work as an original multiplayer game cast.
