That is true, DaS3 is my second favorite in terms of gameplay. It's techically a good and competent game. But at the same time it feels so fucking bland, being the 3rd sequel, and all the pandering, throwbacks, reused assets and fanservice really didn't help it.
DaS1 has a truly shitty second half, but it left a much bigger impression on me than DaS3. DaS3 simply reminded me of the highpoints from DaS1, or made me want to play BB instead.
Yes it's one of the best, but at the same time the blandest. I even had more feeling towards DaS2. It gave me resentment, disgust, hatred, and more. At least it gave me SOMEthing
