Most people were chicken of the fierce vertigo the first one gave if you were afraid of heights.

I loved the first one, just hope they improved the fighting.

No. When replaying ME1, I realized it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it to be.
>>
The beta ruind this game for me. I'm a great fan of the first ME, but I'll probably won't buy this game.
It looks like ME, it sounds like ME and it plays like ME, bu it's not ME.
The artstyke is ruined, the open world is just a series of paths, the sotory looked generic and retarded and irt run like shit on my PC, and thats a pretty bad sign because most of the time nothing is happening on the screen.
>>
>>339667664
I was in closed beta, it's alright without being revolutionary. I'll buy it if I have money to spare at some point
>>
anyone want to make predictions?
will it tank worse than Battleborn?
>>
>>339669295
Tank? I doubt it, but it won't do amazing. The first game wasn't a big seller, either.

This game isn't next to another rbig release as far as im ware, battleborn mucked up by releasing alongside a titan's game.
>>
>>339669295
I don't think it will, it doesn't really have any competitors like battleborn did afaik

Another pre-rendered course run where the standard gameplay is ddr and boss fights consist of clicking a single button at a prompt? Oh and they took out guns too to make combat entirely screen prompts? Hired an internet "game critic" with no actual experience to influence the actions of a billion dollar company? First person platforming where the interactions are based on jumping towards an object and hoping your position number is accepted by the game to tell that you pulled off a sweet move? 9 levels and 4 hours of gameplay?

Sounds fun AND exciting for a cool gamer like me!

>>
>>339667249
No, because it's an EA sequel pumped out by a studio that doesn't care (see: BF4 support prior to EA LA taking over, BF Hardline support, BF1's existence) with special guest Anita.

There is a fairly good chance it'll be shit, so I'm not hyping it.

If it turns out good, I'll be happy - but I'm not going to work myself up for failure.

I think I might pay for a date with some lucky china town grill to celebrate. We'll play video games, pick up Mirrors Edge Catalyst merch, and enjoy the game together.

It'll be perfect! What could go wrong?

I'll be busy playing the new patch for FFXIV anyway.

I'm not sure where you're going with this, but I like it
>>
>>339670282
Nope, I played the beta and I don't know where this information come from. Combat is similar to ME1 in that you have to pull off combos. There's a move you can use when you have maximum 'flow' that allows you to run past/through people, but you have to have a fairly long windup
>>
>>339669951
Somebody didn't play the first one and get disappointed by the Ropeburn buildup only to kill him with a single click, same as every enemy in the game

This one is going to be more of the same, multiplayer differences aside.

It's a shame how it's 3 steps forward, 2 steps back.

The first time you run through an area is much more fun than it is in the original Mirror's Edge. This is contributed to by two things: first off, the mechanics are much smoother to transition from one move to the next. Some of the animations and movement in the first game just felt too disjointed from one another, and Catalyst does a lot better for making movement feel great. The second factor is the structure of the world. It favors more for traversing the area, and when you stand on a roof, you can look down and see several different paths that you'd want to take. The first game had great freerunning areas once you got them down, but often they were unwieldy the first time through due to have one janky path to follow that you wouldn't be able to flow through without knowing the right way ahead of time. Catalyst did well for improving flow while not losing design. This is all tested through the cutthroat side missions, which are great for challenging the player's grasp of the game.

Mechanically, the game is absolutely sound in how you progress in the level and it's top tier once you turn Runner Vision off. It just doesn't do well in just about every other facet.

The main point is how mature Faith is in both personality and skills. One moment she's a raging, inexperienced young adult, while the next she's supposed to be one of the elite runners that stands at the top of the chain. It makes it hard to really root for the character or enjoy playing her when the only thing that remains a constant is being an insecure bitch. Then the skill tree makes you question why the "best runner" wouldn't have the ability to tuck her legs in by default. Finally, the story is abysmally half the first game and half generic anti-corp dystopia

I enjoyed the beta, but only running around the city. I don't expect to see myself paying more than $20 for this unless it turns out the story missions are great.

The simplified gameplay and skill tree unlock system killed my hype. They had to make the story levels while knowing that players wouldn't have access to every ability, which means they'll be dumbed down. Probably have "branching paths" that you can only take if you have a certain ability.

Things like tucking your legs to jump over fences or roll to survive a high fall are included in the tree. They're "lock you out of certain areas" skills, and the levels need to be built with this in mind.
>>
>everyone in this thread and last thread shitting on the "simplified gameplay"

You weren't invited to the beta, were you? It's identical to the original, and yeah the skill tree is shitty but you can unlock all the basic things within 30 or so minutes. I can overlook it seeing how it actually lived up to my expectations when I played.
>>
>>339667249
It's gonna be shit compared to the original.

Because you could either put more funds into your game development, or you could lock half the map with an unlocked ability and use the same areas twice.

I'm not joking. They supposedly put the skill tree in because they say it helps girls learn the moves better if they're unlocked one by one.

The rolling unlock is to just make the landing faster, you can still do a soft landing without the roll unlocked but it's not an elegant roll, more just a slight stumble. Takes 5 minutes to unlock.
>>
My question is, will any of the skill tree skills be mandatory or is the game finishable without them?

If the latter, blunder of the millennium.
>>
>>339674861
Did they just make a feminist game about female power and then embody the patriarchy by telling women they learn more slowly then men and need help playing against men?

If I was a woman I'd be fucking pissed at this pandering.
>>
>>339673704
id kiss that pouty face
>>
>>339675632
You unlock lots of stuff through main quests, so I believe you can finish the game without unlocking much
>>
playing the beta or whatever that was sort of killed the hype for me.

the big marquee mission was decent enough, but the stuff around it was seriously lacklustre. the 'open-world' was dead, the player created races weren't particularly appealing, the delivery missions were okay...

playing through that beta and then seeing that i'd played like 20something percent of that game was a bit of a shock.

i'll grab it if someone bypasses denuvo or when it's deeply discounted but at full price it's not worth it.
