ITT good mobile games
That shit sucks, but Square's actually been putting up decent fucking shit for mobile lately between competent remakes of Mana 1 and Romancing SaGa 2.

My nigga!
What chapter you on?
>>339662818
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is pretty cool

Hey, they've been at it for a while. the Chaos Rings are actually decent games, but nobody knows them because nobody's ready to pay the launch price of like, $13. Hoped to see a resurgeance in interest when the third installment got ported to Vita, but it doesn't seem to have really happened.
Too bad too, the Wild Arms devs made a pretty cool atmosphere.
Also, Terra Battle is honestly decent as far as mobile games go. Satisfying progression, some variety, and a gameplay that's not completely braindead. I regret losing interest soon after launch, especially since I picked up Final Fantasy Record Keeper since then.

>ITT good mobile games
The CAVE ports/enhancements (they did add some new stuff) of their shmups are actually really fucking good, far better then they have any right to be on a touch screen, although of course a controller is still better. They're still a ton of fun though, great design/music and all, and lend themselves well to quick sessions. Only thing I'd really knock is that the oldest ones, pre-Death Smiles basically, don't have controller support last I checked. I don't blame them per se since they pre-dated standard controller frameworks on iOS/Android anyway, but still a negative.
Also on the standard ports list: Ghost Trick and company are fucking awesome and well worth playing for anyone who hasn't, great ports, one of the few games where touch really is a perfect fit and better then the original even (extra res, crisper screens don't hurt either).
As far as originals, Wayward Souls, BADLAND, Galaxy on Fire 2, and Skulls of the Shogun were all pretty fun and are worth a spin. Osmos is pretty simple & chill but still some fun challenges.
>>339664880
>Chaos Rings
I thought they were interesting early attempts and got them when they first came out, but were ultimately a lot more shallow then I'd hoped for in terms of the gameplay. Some decent characters, atmosphere and all that, but they should have been better then they were coming from those devs. Oh well.
>>339663153
Not the first guy but I left around chapter 14 I think? Pretty early on, but I'm curious. Is the plot later on still "let's go down as far as possible and ruin everything along the way"?
>>339665804
I'll give you that. There were interesting ideas for Chaos Rings, and I love me the atmosphere, but I'll be the first to admit most battles later on became "dude 1 attacks, dude 2 heals/keep reflect up at all times".
I suppose them's the limitations when you're making a turn by turn battle system with two characters.

>How do you define 'Good Mobile Game'?
A game that's good and good on mobile? Should be fun and run well and work within the constraints of the platform. If it's a port it's not enough the original was good, the port itself needs to not crash, run smoothly, have all the needed interface work (and in some cases peripheral support), etc. And also not get dropped like a hot potato on the next upgradeFUCK YOU CRAPCOM, YOU FUCKING TROLLS. YOU GOT ME AGAIN.
>>339665103
>Cytus
Oh yeah, that seems to be one of the recommended Rhythm games but I ended up not getting that far into it vs others. Maybe I'll try again.
Literally one of the best "F2P" games I've played
So how about that console terra battle game eh
>>339665931
Oh no, it becomes crazy.
Actual spoiler ahead:Animata ( The Maker ) is a spaceship with the DNA of everyone, you start fighting aliens.
I'm in the last chapter. They left a hook onsaying that the origins of ever living creature's DNA is from another planet. But don't seem to further the plot on that.
Really hope they make a new group of chapters.
>Play TB when it first launched
>Get pretty far (~20 something chapters in)
>Roll a new account on my tablet for kicks
>Get Samatha and Yukken early on
>FUUUUUUUUCK
>Play more on my alt
>Eventually burn out on both and stop playing
Shame because I did enjoy it when I played. Farming for Bahamut's Caladbolg during the event it appeared drove me fucking insane though.
>>339666432
Is it planned? Because if it is, I'm in. I still lumber around my iPhone 4, and it's too slow to run the game smoothly. Plus, the tiny-ass screen is pretty frustrating.
>>339666729
They set it as a goal for 2 million downloads (or something like that) which they hit like a year ago
They've yet to mention anything about it since
>>339666432
Is it going to be a new game or pretty much a port?
They also have a book out but I haven't bought it.
>>339666717
Huh, pretty neat. And that does explain that whole "DNA recombining lambda class" thing I heard about in passing mention throughout various social feeds.
>>339666103
I don't think it was an inherent limitation, it's definitely possible to do better then that even with limited characters. At the bare minimum for example, even without getting into anything more complex in terms of tactical positioning and the like, they could have at LEAST had more depth in terms of equipment/skills/magic. Have actual trees to follow, branching customization options/tradeoffs, etc. Combat could have had way more to it. If they'd had that exact same system but 3 or 4 characters it still would have been shallow as fuck, I don't think that was the issue.
Go all the way back to the playstation 1, lots of turn based RPGs had parties with just 3 characters, often with times where you were reduced to 1 or 2, and did a lot better. I don't know if they just blew all their budget or what, it was clearly them dipping their toes in the water, when CR first game out mobile was still considered very experimental for the old established companies. We were only just getting into the strong acceleration curve for smartphone power. Even so, I still expected better, and I think it would have helped the long tail quite a bit. Good RPGs inherently have extremely long lives because the graphics and technical aspects are far less important then things which are timeless, so I think they missed an opportunity there somewhat to make a much bigger, more lasting franchise.
I'm not saying CR were blunders or shoddy, they were quality enough for what they were and even had some great parts, but I dunno, almost felt like they showed some spruced up tech demos to management, who then told them to use that for the story and ship it rather then get the gameplay to console standards.
>>339667317
They don't really explain the " Everyone becomes part machine as they level up" thing either.
I thought they would talk about it but nope.
>>339662818
Fantasy War Tactics.
>>339667141
Apparently they don't want it to be a 1:1 port, but then again they also have no idea what they want it to be at all so eh.
>>339667774
Hopefully the Console version will continue or expand the story.
Any good games that don't need an internet connection. I really only play mobile games when I'm out and about and using data is expensive. If I could play games while connected to the wifi at home, naturally I'd play PC or console

>>339668049
I don't think a single one of the ones mentioned in >>339665804 needs a net connection, they're all offline (technically I guess scores/achievements and the like use a connection, but that can just be sync'd when you're back on wifi anyway).
>>339668490
I'd like that very much.
>Someone talks shit about his waifu.
>He goes ballistic.
>>339668474
You mean like the original, which was almost entirely composed of reused Final Fantasy sprites?
I wouldn't put the top-down 3D on the same level of charm as simple 2D, but it's the best playing version and had the most effort put into it...aside from Sword of Mana, but that version is shit.
>>339668474
Yeah I disagree with that anon entirely, what they did to the SNES Final Fantasy ports was a fucking crime. And 500000000x so in the case of FF4, because they'd ALREADY DONE a fucking good remaster for the PSP that was infinitely better then the dogshit they contracted out for mobile. And they wanted top dollar for their trash too. Fuck them.
>>339668791
Neither me or the original guy are talking about the FF ports though. Why are you butting in with that?
Waiting for Android version of VOEZ

I've been having a good time (also a hard time, but that's the point) with Romancing Saga 2. Just needed to free up some RAM on this device and that seems to have made a big difference.
