>episodic release
>always online
>bad initial reception and negative reviews

It's a great game but they botched the launch really hard.

episodic release.
why not wait until it goes on sale if we have to wait anyway?
>>
>>339654549
You would think devs would have dumped episodic releases and always-online with forced "social" features by now given how often it backfires of them. No-one likes that shit.
>>
Why do episodic releases fail but season passes succeed?
>>

Episodic. I think games developed this unusually should get an unusual rating system to match them. Reviews from the Paris release are somewhat outdated and they don't serve as a great source of information.

>all steam stats point to people not bothering to play content released after having played their games once
>base your entire strategy on releasing content a little bit at a time after the initial release
What could possibly go wrong.
The owner stats for it actually probably paint a prettier picture than it really is, since they don't differentiate between people who only bought the intro and those who have the lot.
>>339655068
Because it doesn't matter if people don't play the contents of a season pass. When they buy it they think they will, and for who cashes in it makes no difference whatsoever.
>>
>>339655232
Most people don't finish games they own, so releasing later bits later just means nobody buys and plays them.

Plus, rather than marketing it once, you have to do it with every episode.

I also guess it's easy to up-sell people with season passes when they're spending $60 on release.

Enjoy your dead on arrival game
>>
I know a lot of people who aren't even considering it until the full game is released.
Episodic was fucking idiotic.
>>
>>339655068
Season passes are "extra" content, episodic content is "delayed" content, perceptively. Buying a full game plus some extra stuff vs buying part of a game before the rest gets released.

>Reviews are outdated!!!1

Maybe the Shitman developers should have put out a good game first, you moron.
