When they announced that the Xbone had released a cheaper version with no Kinect, I jumped all over that.

The development of P4 was shorter than P3 and P5 due to reusing P3's assets and engine.
It probably took them less than 2 years to develop P4 because majority of the heavy load was finished when P3 was released.
P5 had to use Catherine's engine and go from there and the release of the PS4 just made things harder due to getting that version ready.
And if P6 is ever made, development time will probably be shorter and won't even need a delay since it'll be a new game on an engine they already mastered
