I have only seen kids do this, everyone else goes to play the jew game with tf2 backpack and outpost. The economy is fucktarded nowadays to even try unless you wanna spend months with multiple iddling accounts on a second job that nets you a $5 profit!
Previously anyone could play the game and with in a month trade up to a valuable item starting from zero. You did not have to do anything special either. Just play the game, craft, go into servers with people who did not know any better and you could trade weapons for hats, and hats for better ones.
Then you could trade that for keys, and then keys for videogames with the famed gentleman Vlad Cheeki Breeki. I got about 3 games from tf2 keys.
Since 2014 the economy shifted and the metal to key ratio skyrocket, there are too many shitty items in the pool to make crafting as viable, and the game just is not fun to play anymore. Playing the jew game is way more time consuming than it was before to the point it is easier to just buy a handful of keys, trade them around and get your lime meme scout gear ready for the next pubstomping match. The time you saved can be used to do freelance commissions or whatever you can accomplish in 4 hours to get more money and ignore trading altogether, and that is how trading died.

Both the Direct Hit and Airstrike reward you for being the good at the game, The Direct Hit rewarding good aim for more damage, and the Airstrike rewarding you for getting kills(sacrificing 15% damage for DOUBLING your clip and becoming a fucking nuke when rocket jumping is well worth it)
