I guess I'd be more up in arms if there was ever a dlc I really wanted. But never in all these years have I found some cosmetic so blindingly beautiful I just HAD to buy it. I felt like to some degree the developers know that. That they can put the best stuff in the actual game and the middling cosmetics as dlc so minimal people who don't buy dlc don't feel left out and the whales who gobble everything shoved in front of them will do so as they always have. %99 of the time when I see some preorder/special edition dlc tons of people are running around in it for the first two weeks or so then get bored and drop it for something new you actually needed to obtain in game.

Regardless I don't see how you could legitimately complain that a game company provides you a cheaper option to getting a game if you don't care about the additional cosmetic content. If anything it's something I would WANT to catch on, like paying less for a game because you could give two shits about multiplayer or the inverse. Overwatch is the Smash Brothers of fighting games, it's casual entry with a decent skill ceiling with variety of content and playstyle along the way. But faggots who can't see how this might be appealing or genuinely fun to spend time playing, especially with friends, find arbitrary means to shit on it because they don't want it associated with what they like for any reason.
While the game is enjoyable and can be patently proven by the people that play and enjoy the game, whether they are previous blizzard game players or not, and so on, people here will find something to shit on it and claim that "they aren't really having fun" because it has to meet some standard to them.

Evolve might have stood a chance if it went with one pricing model instead of every pricing model. Charging a $60 buy-in then price gauging on 'micro'-translations might work if you have built up a popular franchise, but it just discourages people on a new unconventional multiplayer game. They shot themselves in the foot and you could quickly see it in the figures and the skewed online community.
Overwatch will probably do ok. It's popular enough that people will look past the high price and the micro-transactions (so far as I've not really looked into it) are entirely optional. I don't know if it has staying power, but it'll make it's money back easily.
As long as they keep their promise of all heroes and maps being free $40 is fine. Blizzard is pretty good at supporting their games so I don't feel like they'll abandon the game in half a year.
Also I would much rather pay up front for the gameplay shit rather that $30 map packs or $10 heroes or $40 season passes

Thought it would be a TF2 like game where you could simply join a server and enjoy some random fun. Turns out it is a 'competetive' shooter that permits little to no goofing around, has way too many instant kill features and a matchmaking that keeps you on 50%, punishing you when you do well.
