Lots of bugs, dummied out content and a cruel deadline for the only translator who had to get around limited character space.

Mostly the same faults of all FF games. Constantly switching party members for weak story reasons, main antagonist is cliche, main protagonist is a closed off loner, story falls apart after some forced plot twists, etc.
But all that said. Its still one of the best FF games. And even the issues I listed above aren't as big of a problem as other FF games like IV, VII or X. Can't even go an hour in FFIV without some facepalm worthy story or gameplay issue.
FFVI also has the best female character in the series, some of the best music and some of the best design.
