I honestly hate these colours.
'A game needs colours' is such a TB meme. A game can or can not have a big colour palette, it depends entirely on the aspired atmosphere.
Gears of War was just more unique with the WW1 atmosphere.

Played the beta extensively. It was actually very good. For once they actually nailed consistency in the weapons. I'm not sure it was coding or latency but Gears always had a bit of a "finicky" way about the weapons that made them unforgiving to new players. You had to learn the way each weapon shot.
Now they're very consistent across the board. I'll always have love for Gears. It satisfies a certain type of gameplay and is always fun to go back to.

They actually were really cool, each one was subsequently better than the last as they continued to add more characters, grubs, weapons, modes and executions.
Some of my best console days were spent system-linking and splitscreen to play 4-way horde mode back on ye olde xbox 360.
A crippling lack of co-op or multiplayer with bots on next gen was seriously half the reason I gave up on consoles in the first place.
