they have done this for their last 2 Japan at the very least, we got splatoon/bayo2 demo after E3, and star fox last year. Japan Expo is probably the first public event to get E3 stuff at the moment.
They don't advertise it much though, weirdly, probably because people think Paris Game's week is supposed to be the big event, which, while true in size, is plagued by a horrible schedule imo.

there might be playable demos for other games. Maybe some zelda (even though not the 1h30 press demo), and Sony and Microsoft are there too and usually show their stuff as well.

I suppose the novelty of holograms combined with cute anime girls makes people interested to at least check it out once. To be fair, the music is actually played live by an actual band, technically only the singer is fake. Plus, with holograms you can do shit like Miku growing angel wings and rising in the air while dropping sick rhymes.
