Would you ever consider buying a PC like this?

they're selling this in japan

http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1002611.html
>>
>>339578830

If I can custom build it myself and the monitor is a case...

Fucking no because the cooling will be shit and limit my overclocking. You can overclock 1 teraflop+ on most cards just with decent cooling alone
>>
Fuck no. That's just asking for trouble.
>>
Didn't they make a bunch of Macs like that and they had overheating problems?
>>
why the fuck would I want a stock intel cooler in something with shit-tier airflow
>>
>2000 fucking dollars
jesus fucking christ no the cons outweigh the pros by a mile
>>
>>339578996
Yes and yes. Anyone who buys this is asking for trouble.
>>
>>339578830
Cooling nightmare
>>
>>339578996
iMacs with this design cool fine, not as well as a larger case with proper airflow, but fine. For anything but gaming, they're silent, which can't be said for many tower computers
>>
>>339579110
Is there even a pro at all besides saving space on a rig?
>>
I know shit all about building PCs and just general tech related to PCs, but this is just asking for shit to happen and explode in your face one day or just plain melt.
>>
Absolutely not. What happens if the screen cracks or gets damaged? No way in hell I'm putting all my eggs in one basket like that. One of the benefits of having a PC is that if one part goes bad you're not completely fucked.
>>
>>339578996
Yes but the guts were in the base of the monitor and covered.

This design could work very well.
>>
>>339579087
Because unless you OC, the stock intel shit is more than enough.
Unless you're in Africa.

If it was 16:10 I'd consider it but not with a new card and not without some sort of water cooling.

I still don't overclock because 15 extra fps isn't worth a reduced lifespan.
>>
>>339579196
This is stupid, All-In-One PCs have been a thing for decades, this is just using higher quality parts
>>
>>339579191
the screen has some pretty alright specs
i'll be honest thats it i didn't think that one through its just shit all around
>>
It appears we think by saving space, we're innovating technology.

Fitting a bunch of lightbulbs in one fixture isn't as efficient as placing a bunch of lightbulbs around an area if the goal is to light a room.
>>
>>339579295
If it's possible to have a decent gaming experience without some LED-ridden plastic turd from the future sitting next to your monitor, why not?
>>
>>339578830
Honestly no. Its the same problem with laptops. To much in one area. I have a huge spacious tower so everything has its own easily reachable spot and repairs/maintenance is easy to do. Look how crowded that thing is.

It also looks top heavy as fuck. My monitor gets bumped around a lot. Imagine that tipping over. You are risking EVERYTHING if it falls. What happens when the power supply goes bad? The more shit right there on it the more likely it will get friend with the power supply.

Just no. I wouldn't. Its a nice design and it looks cool. But I wouldn't touch it.
>>
I was in China at an Alienware shop and played Dora 2 on one, the screen was far too big to keep on eye on everything happening. Would be great for non competitive "cinematic expire nice" gamers though.
>>
is 16:10 the rnost retarded meme to ever exist in PC gaming?
>>
>>339579369
>My monitor gets bumped around a lot
What the fuck are you doing on your desk that your monitor 'gets bumped around a lot'?
>>
>>339579191
>Because unless you OC, the stock intel shit is more than enough.
you don't actually believe this, do you?

Intel has the worst stock coolers in the business. The last one I received idled my CPU at fucking 70C
>>
>>339579405
>the screen was far too big to keep on eye on everything happening

What the fuck? I have a 34" ultrawide and everything is perfectly within my vision. Did you put your nose against the monitor?
>>
>>339579421
I dont have a desk. I'm a poor college student that moves around a lot to the cheapest place I can find. I moved 5 times in the last year. This leads to my monitor being right on the coffee table a lot. My computer is really the only thing adding to my net worth.
>>
>>339579184
>For anything but gaming, they're silent

Absolutely not. Once you're running demanding software like After Effects or Cinema 4D for a while it will blow louder than any tower PC simply because the airflow is shit.
>>
>>339579369
>You are risking EVERYTHING if it falls
They're all standard parts, you're risking absolutely nothing. Stop fearmongering.
>>
>>339579230

New iMacs are LITERALLY this design anon, when the fuck they had "bases" last?

And yeah they suck ass
>>
>>339579363
I was going to explain all the possible drawbacks in a design with literally no conceivable advantages but I've decided you're probably just mentally retarded and instead I'm gonna go jerk off
>>
>>339579363
>simple steel boxes don't exist
>>

no. That's just plain stupid. it limits what kind of parts or how many parts you can have. it's only convenient. That's it.

>>339579548

yeah, when you're only looking at the internet. The mac fans are fucking loud and said fans have the highest failure rate next to the HDDs. iMacs are shit for video editing, they heat up too easily.
>>
>>339579687
My PSU of the last 8 years actually died on me last month. It was super fucking worrying but as soon as I plugged in the new one I felt 100x better.

That 45 bucks went a long way.
>>
Wouldn't this work with oled?

I heard oled screens got rid of the lamp so heat shouldn't be that much of an issue

>>
>>339579968

Most people hate it because of the cooling. Everyone loves overclocking.
>>
>>339579831
I come from a mac family and am the sole windows user, granted only my dad gives a shit about OS stuff. He prefers mac and is kind of stubborn, but he's got cash so whatever.

My sister's Macbook had both the GPU fan and CD drive fail on her before 2 years. My roommate had an iMac that the fan failed on and the HDD slowed way the fuck down. The CPU also started overheating and underclocked itself to make the whole comp run like shit.

The only part that's failed on me on my desktop is my PSU after 8 years. The CD drive, all my GPUs and CPUs, and RAM worked perfectly.

OLED is insanely expensive to manufacture at more than cell-phone size and on-top of that only a couple manufacturers actually make them. Samsung has a semi-monopoly on theme at the moment and LG is making some OLED stuff.
>>
>>339579968
>without even knowing anything about it is kind of ridiculous

1. its a design done before
2. it works fine for low power pcs
3. it does not for high power gaming desktop hardware

That simple.
Keep hating valid logic.
>>
>>339579968
I'm against it and its not because "It could never work" Its because I dont feel safe with it. I dont like how compact and close together the parts are. I also dont like it because it takes a lot of control away from me. Now I have to follow their design and placement if I want to do anything with it.

Its a fine product for what it is but I have no interest in it at all.

I got into gaming which means windows or bust.

H440 Silent Special Black

It's a decent mid range case, there are better options available, but I didn't feel like buying a brand new case so I made some custom adjustments to it, swapped all the original fans to custom rubber 140mm PWM fans and some extra foaming here and there and put more isolation on all vibration sources.

"Special" is apparently the ugly razer design.
>>
>>339579638
Looks like its all standard parts with a mini ITX motherboard, smooshed out horizontally instead of stacked like in a typical mini ITX case. It even has space for a long card, which my mini ITX case barely does. I don't see how its putting any limitations on your part selection

Here is my case.

Its fucking perfect, sans the plastic clear side.

Solid steel, everything thought out on the inside, god tier cable management, can fit a gorllian fans, and i personally think it looks fucking awesome, even the flip up cover black and yellow reset switch.

This is the case to rule them all, the Corsair Vengence.

good taste, i've had my eyes on this case for a while now. will probably spring for it sooner rather than later.
>>
>>339581889
They actually do, there's a gigantic heatsink performing passive cooling that absorbs heat to prevent the fans from having to spin up at all. The CPU is also a desktop model, only the GPU is mobile.

>>339581626
