Dodging is the best gift in this fight.
Keep dodging round him up close, and try stay up close, when he ends his combo, get a quick 1-2 attacks in, as he has a lot of open room.
Generally he will only use homing attacks from a range, but there are exceptions.
There are pretty much only 2 attacks you need to be worried about in the first phase of the nameless king part of the fight, the forward dash attack which has a deceptively earlier than you would expect clip dash, which often caught me off and the residue from the attack, and the one where he quickly dashes to the side and homes in on you, where you may need to adjust your camera, this is rare however.
His slam attack can be quite unpredictable as well, so it may be worth just blocking if you can't get the hang of it.
For his second phase, the sunlight spear is relatively easy to get around, the lightning kick is fairly obvious and the lightning charge should probably be blocked unless you are very confident about it.

If you stay in his long-range distance he'll do his lunge, after his lunge his cooldown is so long you can hit him with a fully-charged R2 from basically any goddamn thing.
It was better when you did more dps single targeting mobs than aoeing them and pulling agro from the tank was easy to do

I would personally say that pontiff, soc, princes, armour, oceiros, nameless king, champ, dancer, aldrich and the abyss watchers were all pretty great fights.
Yhorm, Iudex, Vordt, Deacons, and Old Demon King weren't as difficult, but they were all nice little bosses.
Sage, Wolnir and Ancient Wyvern were all kind of limp though.

Did you upgrade your weapon? But the weapons aren't supposed to recoil even if you hit toughest foe with unupgraded weapon

Didn't like Pontiff's second phase. Why make him less aggressive? Fighting him in the beginning was very challenging.
Soul and Princes aren't really worth mentioning. Just kind of got them over with.
Did indeed enjoy Gundyr and Dragonslayer very much too. Although I wish that fireball-spewing creature would fuck off.

I just really enjoyed the atmosphere of the fight more than anything else to be honest.
It was a great fight to end the first third of the game on as well, sort of an end to the fairly easy first couple of areas as the game starts getting more difficult

I beat him today, took me about 7 tries though I leveled to sl110 before I beat him, I first few attempts I was sl91 or so.
then I tried rolling all his shit and I could fucking do it and being a dex fag I didn't have access to a decent shield, so I took the few points I had in luck and made my str 15 so I could use the great tree crest shield and carthus curved sword which I reinforced to +4 and +9 respectively. I was then able to tank all but the last hit of a combo and be more selective for which attacks I would roll. I don't think I would of been able to beat him without a shield.
he's really more of a three faze boss because he changes up his speed and moveset halfway through his 1v1.
soul of cinders was too easy though, all you have to do is learn his tell for his panfry combo in his second faze and you're good.
