Who else on /v/ is picking this up next week? I'm considering whether I should rush out straight away because Vanillaware has never let me down before but that's true of a lot of developers who then let me down by releasing subpar products this gen. After tax here in Canada, these games cost $90 Justin-Bux so what do you all think?
>>
I've never played the original, sell me on this game.
>>
>Odin Sphere Leftovers
What's the point? If I wanna play it again I'll boot it up on my PS2.
>>
>>339556082
the game sells itself anon, now sell us on ur bubble butt :D
>>
Is it crossbuy? Might pick it up to play it on the Vita

It's a 2D action-RPG brawler with high quality sprite work & multiple campaigns

>>339556219
Apparently they've redone the game mechanics in this game to make it a deeper play experience.
>>
Playing through Princess Crown on the Saturn now. I've got Odin Sphere on the ps2 bit never completed it. Mayne I'll buy this one in a few months when the price drops.
>>

>Apparently they've redone the game mechanics in this game to make it a deeper play experience.
I don't give a shit about a deeper experience I just don't want to spend half the time fiddling with the inventory
>>
>>339556507
I would be shocked if they didn't use the touch pad to streamline the inventory in this release, oh yeah and they drew new frames of animation because it supposedly runs at 60fps along with the resolution boost.
>>
same shit all over again why should I buy this?

>>
I would not spend more than $20 on this desu

I loved the demo too
>>
>>339555890
Pre-ordered the Storybook edition on Amazon, arrives on the 7th.

I'm a sucker for hardcover artbooks and Vanillaware/George Kamitani art makes my dick rock hard. Loved the game way back when it released, look forward to playing through it again.
>>
This one time I booted it up on PS2 emulator and almost completed it. Might get this for vita tv when it gets cheaper.
>>
>>339557108
Yeah it seems more like it should have a budget release but I love 2D art so want to support Vanillaware's commitment to it if possible. It's a tough call. Besides what else is coming up that I really care about? The new Deus Ex will probably disappoint just like the new Tomb Raider sequel and Just Cause 3, there's that Horizon game about fighting robot dinosaurs which looks awesome but who knows how it may really turn out.
>>
can't wait, I need something to peel me off of overwatch
>>
>>339555890
too expensive for a remake, will wait for price drop
>>
I loved Dragon's Crown, but don't really care to have that experience again. Still, I hope the game sells well. Wonder if its success on PS3 will deteine if Atlus bring P5 to the console in NA
>>
Picking it up to support kamitami's art and the 2d masterrace
>>
>>339555890
picking it up for sure, just dunno if to go with LE or not. That t-shirt is too small for me
>>
Should've been a $40 release. It's already targeting a niche audience, the price wilkl put off some people. I'll pick it up when it's $40, until then I'll play the ps2 one.
>>
>>339559432
it is nothing similar to dragon's crown tho
gameplay wise
>>

How exactly was this remastered? Did they re draw the sprites or did they just upres it with a smear filter?

>>339560227
redrew them with added frames of animation, also with gameplay tweaks to make it more strategic and less button mashey

Re-exported from their source files. They also re-tooled the whole combat system to work in Muramasa's engine, supposedly it feels a lot tighter. Plus a few extra bosses and areas that were scrapped in the original game.
>>
>>339560420
Howbout the god awful inventory management?
This will be the make it or break it for me since my friends shop got it in early.
>>

I don't know specifically but like I said earlier, I would be willing to bet they incorporate the touch pad to streamline it

You can choose any of the characters and go through a mini-chapter. Rock-solid 60FPS, absolutely zero slowdowns, art looks gorgeous, controls are responsive as fuck. You don't get to try out any of the RPG systems, unfortunately. Still debating whether I think it's worth $60, while I do always try to support Vanillaware it is mostly just a remaster (even with the impressive new changes).

Bought a copy for the PSVita, hoping that it works with the VitaTV

Its pretty much Muramasa's combat reskinned, but there also seems to be a lot of new bosses/enemies. Definetly looks worth the $40 paid.
>>
>>339555890
Yep.

Getting the collector's edition and the vita version. Been putting in a few bucks since January.
>>
>>339555890
From Canada here as well, so I can sympathize with the ridiculous price. If you've never played Odin Sphere before, I definitely recommend getting it. Probably the best plot a Vanillaware game has had. If you have played the original, the new battle system still makes it worthwhile, especially if you enjoyed Muramasa and Dragon's Crown. It pretty much adds the crazy air slashes from Muramasa, and the flat-ground/aerial dodges from DC, which makes for much faster gameplay.
>>
>>339555890
Can any emulatorfags tell if the game emulates well? Does it still get those massive frame drops in boss battles and such like it did on the ps2?
>>
>>339555890
I am probably getting for the PS3. But the fact that there is no special bundle for the PS3 really negatively impacts my enthusiasm.
It's ultimately a remake of an old PS2 classic that I've already played to completion from beginning to end at least thrice already. It does look good, but I'll never buy the pay to play online machine for this game.
>>
>>339570147
Yeah it takes me back to the ol days of the 16 and 32 bit era. I remember Doom 64 was $120 before tax when it came out. However I did love both Muramasa & Dragon's Crown so you might be right about it being worth it.

>>339571862
good on you, I bought a PS4 and so far it's been kind of disappointing aside from Alien Isolation but it as well has a nearly identical version on PS3
>>
Getting it on Vita actually, just so i can have Muramasa, Dragons Crown, and this all on one system.
>>
>>339571862

>>

>>
>>339573143
Not the PS3 version. The PS3 version gets nothing. It's as bland as it gets.
The PS4 and Vita versions gets the artbook, and also has the Storybook Edition which has special stuff bundled with it beyond the artbook.
But the PS3 package is as bland as it gets. You get the box and nothing else.
>>
I find it amazing that the studio fixed the combat sytem, fixed 1080p 60fps, and redrew EVERY art asset in the game. Damn!
