Five years on, what the hell was SEGA thinking? Are we going to get a new Streets of Rage, or not? Because this was the equivalent of outing squatters and the homeless from an abandoned building, left to rot, just as the squatters neared completion on their maintenance of it.
And five years on, it's still rotting.

This remake was excellent if you can find a torrent of it.
You can tell the developers where major fans of the first three.
The new OSTs arent half bad either.

Yeah, just a shame about SEGA's lockdown.
People are still developing packs for it, apparently. The game lives on.

They're straight up improvements in a lot of cases. Though I prefer the originals in a few cases.

I think it has more to do with how retarded copyright law has gotten in order to protect some very specific things.
It's one of those things in which you can do whatever you want with your IP, even if that means doing nothing, and you can let other people do pretty much whatever they want, EXCEPT this couple of very arbitrary things, in which case, you are pretty much obligated to do something about it or you'll lose the IP to them, legally.
Kind of like how DC lost their old logo.

Ash and Shiva respectively
>>339551251
Were they playable in any of the official games? I only remember all the other characters.
>>339551337
Shiva and Ash were in the Jap version you had to use a code(remember those?) after you defeat them in battle, In the US version only shiva was available officially while to unlock ash required a game genie.

Purple: Ash. Boss from Streets of Rage 3's Japanese version. Also a playable character in that version, if unlocked. Flaming homosexual who has ridiculously powerful bitchslaps. I mean, supremely. He's playable in Remake as well, though toned down in raw power.
Green: Shiva. Boss from Streets of Rage 2 & 3, also an unlockable character in 3. Obnoxiously powerful ninja. Replaced Ash in the PAL/USA versions, in order to not offend people. Playable in Remake, toned down.

Makes me wonder why SEGA didn't snap up the dev team and put them under their official umbrella, releasing Remake as a full project.

It got shut down years ago man. Doesn't stop people from uploading it though.
Anyone reading this make sure to get the stealth update bombergames put out as well, it's filled with some bugfixes and improvements like money carrying over with every playthrough so you don't need to clear the entire game for a cash out.

>Stealth update
Ooh, neat. I'll look for that. Thanks, anon.

Oh thank goodness. I can't Rage the Streets like I used to.

Yeah here it is. http://www.soronline.net/sorr_downloads.htm
Spoonfeeding cause this game's fucking worth it. Seriously one of my favorites ever.
Sega get off your asses and make it official. And port Taxman's sonic shit off phones for fucks sake.

Thanks man, SoR2 was a defining game of my childhood.
Better than it getting c&d'd before its finished. This way the game is out there and sega gets to save face on the legal front
Honestly one of my favorite games, if not my favorite game. Why SEGA shut it down instead of putting them on a full scale project is beyond me even to this day.
Ive just went to the site. Its downloading fine.
