Am I the only one who would love a DLC of just a fuckton of rune trials? They don't have to each unlock a rune as that would be way to hard to balance that many (though maybe finishing them all could unlock one)

I just love the idea of tightly controlled arena battles with unique rules.

There's the arenas in Ratchet and Clank games, and I think God of War 3 had some stuff like that but I can't really think of many other games that have little mini-battles with unique rulesets for each.

those are user wads and its running on a source port with mouse aiming and other fancy features making it actually easy to control at that speed. nobody played doom like that in 93 using always run was a death sentence since mouse aiming was horrible with those dos mice and when you moved the mouse forward you moved forward. They should make a prequel DLC that sort of follows the premise of the original Doom and shows how the Doom Marine gets the Praetor armor. You'd start off with just the basic Doomguy uniform and consequently, you'd take damage a lot more quickly.

Foreground marine is a half second from a grisly death.
Left marine is a power fantasy. Kinda makes sense given the 'deboot' story.
The right art is superior as it is done traditionally with actual paints and airbrushes, the left is just a digital 'homage'. No undo states in physical mediums.
Doom 2's cover is done by Gerald Brom. Very cool artist.
If game companies really wanted the game is art shit to work, get artists to make actual art for the covers, for a start, not just photomanips that look like they clone what is currently selling well.

I only want another single player campaign and a shitload of new material for Snapmap. I know people dog on Snapmap a lot and for several good reasons but its got some potential.

Here are two maps I've made that are single player, moderate to hard difficulty depending on finding the hidden shit, and unfortunately relatively short since I actually put things in each room rather than leave them empty and soulless.

This is my idea as well. A singleplayer expansion that is basically a remake of Ultimate Doom. You start on Phobos after getting off a dropship with your marine buddies who are here to investigate why contact was lost with the UAC scientists and their portal experiments. Your buddies go inside with the good weapons while you start with the pistol and you quickly discover what has actually happened. Too late however as your buddies are slaughtered and you decide since you cannot pilot the dropship; you will enter the Phobos base and find answers.

You end up on Deimos fighting through the corrupted base and then end up in Hell to kill the Spider Mastermind. The game would have the original multiplayer and everything in terms of appearance is exactly like the original (original Doomguy appearance, pinkies have no carapace like armour, spider mastermind has chaingun, original shotgun and other weapons, etc).

I'm certain with modding tools, modders would be able to populate maps with lots of enemies. Don't expect slaughtermaps (imagine nuts.wad in NuDoom, hyped even thinking about it) but a decent amount of enemies to keep you on your toes constantly shooting should be possible.

Enemies can be spawned in too which would allow high enemy counts.

I edited the game files. It lags really badly though. Using smaller amounts of enemies then using the spawn feature to spawn in enemies later is much more efficient (kill two enemies-game kills more later).

I think 12 is too small-increasing it to around 40 should be decent and allowing the spawn feature to deal with the rest until modding tools get released.

I'm sure of it as well. Be warned though, this is a modern game that was just released so lag and even crashes are common due to the pressure it can put on the system.

The original Doom has had over 20 years for modding to get hold of it as well as a much simpler system (tiles mapping) so it's much more stable.

I love slaughter maps but I know the modern Doom would not be able to handle this at the moment but maybe in the future. Can still have lots of fun with it and modding should be able to recreate the original Doom maps.

Anything beyond the storyline referencing Doom 1 through to 64 is conjecture. It's vague enough that it doesn't even directly reference the events from the first two games, just stuff that sounds sort of similar.

Shadow Warrior remake had the same issue. What made original SW (and Blood and some of the worst Doom wads) hard was the ridiculous amount of hitscan enemies draining your health in seconds.

At least everything blew up so it had that going for it but the second game seems to have toned down the cramped corridors filled with explosive refrigerators for god knows what reason.
