Hell yeah I did. Played cool until I got to the center, but Staff of Life is like Zyklon-2 to the fuckers, cleansed them off the face of the galaxy.
Makes me wish there was a mod that would cause AI to colonize in more dedicated paths, would get to see a bunch of races fight over these pristine worlds near the core, betwixt the ruins of the Grox. An arms race over ancient Grox super-weapons and tech... I need to take this to /tg/.
I heard there was a Spore mod that fixed things up but I never found that shit so no, I just made creatures and ascended them.

Backed up my race and uninstalled the game. Maybe one day they will return in Spore 2.
I honestly liked Spore, I thought it was fun. Sure, there were a few issues, and all the cut content was horrible, but it was good for what it was.
I wouldn't be surprised if EA made a sequel, but of course it would be absolutely terribad.

They continue to grab worlds throughout the game. I think there was a blog years back where some guy managed to corner them in some small section of the centre of the galaxy that had almost no way for them to go anywhere except through his territory. When he eventually got bored and did away with their last planet, he still got missions saying that Grox were attacking his shit.
Pretty sure he looked through the save file with some tool and found no Grox planets at all and concluded the mission generator was the shittiest thing ever.

Though I have the dark injections mod, which basically takes all the parts from the characters in Darkspore and puts them as placeable parts in the creature editor. Really fun stuff. You could totally suck ass at creators and still end up making something completely badass with the parts used.

Honestly I found the reason for why I long for spore 2 so much. Not because of the new parts or new stages. But the community. In the very beginning of spore's existence, I took the thriving community for granted and never really became apart of it, basically I was like 95 percent of the players who play spore now, playing the stages and ignoring the creators. But after several hiatuses I witnessed the community dwindle. The most popular new page on spore.com went from 100 pages, to 50, to 10, and now it barely reaches 3. I want spore 2 to rekindle the community's interest into playing and creating, and eventually create a new generation of spore creators that would of joined in spore 2's wake. Shits fucking sad man. To witness a community at it's very strongest in userbase, go down to it's very weakness. Pretty much on it's last legs.

Spore is like the batman vs superman movie. It had a lot of hype, a really cool concept, and a good team behind it, but it bit off more then it could chew. It tried to be too much, and in the end became not much at all.
I notice that most people here are talking about the space section, and the creature creator. No one is talking about the cell stage, tribe stage, or the civ stage.
I think spore would have been better if it was 5 dedicated games with staggered releases that accepted data from all 5 games. Instead what we have are 2 decent games, 1 tolerable cell section, and 2 lame games.

For a while, I was part of a site called InstantAction. I remember having a blast with that site. Marble Blast Ultra, that tank game they had, Zap, they even had a cool as fuck mech game there. The community, save for a few people, were really cool people and always had new shit to talk about, even if it was the dumbest shit.
One day, the site got shut down and retooled into GarageGames. The servers for those games are gone. The IA community is gone. You can still find Marble Blast servers...if you're lucky, but it's nothing like it was before. The community is gone. What made the site great was gone.
