How would you feel if iD rebooted Heretic or Hexen a la DOOM?

never was able to find a good way to play network hexen and save without it being a lan game. is sorta worked many years ago...I think I was using kickstart....it would save but eventually hexen would get a door glitch where one person could enter and other couldn't...always seemed to happen in this weird fireplace in the 3 hub if I remember right....

A Quake reboot in the soft-Lovecraftian vein of Quake 1 would be killer, and is plausible for a couple of reasons: Both Doom 2016 and Wolfenstein TNO were well received games, and H.P.Lovecraft inspired video games seem to be pretty popular now.

D44M was fun i even enjoyed the MP somewhat. I didn't like the new Wolfenstein though and on higher difficulties it felt like i melted and had to play it like a COD game on Veteran late game.
So i'm not sure since its 50/50 so far.

First, create a map editor that you'll use to make the maps with. Release this editor to the PC version. Don't release a gimped fucking map editor with retarded apparently arbitrary limits, if you can see it in the campaign you should damnwell be able to place it in the editor. Immediately upon release.
The maps and mechanics have to be 1:1 duplicates. Enemies that don't drop ammo in the original don't drop ammo in the reboot, enemies that DO drop ammo only drop the ammo they did in the original. Similar enemy toughness and with identical numbers and groups. Weapons behave the same. Maps undergo only a graphical enhancement; enemies, items, props, etc are all in their original positions when compared to the original. The only thing i'm willing to give on is better ai speed/behaviour improvements.

Then, lable this "Original" difficulty which is AVAILABLE FROM THE START.

Apparently you're not aware of what happened to PlanetSide 2... The developers tampered with the original games' ideas of having an inventory and stealable weapons, seperating infantry fights from vehicles, and faction identity. They turned what would've been a very true and successful port of PlanetSide 1 to modern computing into a fucking class-based "muh e-peen k/d ratio" shooter where every nigger and 2-second latency russian is completely blinged out with camo and cosmetics paid for in a cash shop, that you can also buy you weapons which are locked to your account on a PER CHARACTER basis (maximum jewgolds profit)
No stealing weapons, no hacking enemy vehicles.
3 years later, fucking maintenance mode with crashing populations.

Nothing needs to change, that game was amazing.
Herectic sure, but Hexen would completely suck if done in D44M style. The game is metroidvania-esque, you can't get away with the arena after arena level design, you need a more well thought out enviroment.
New DOOM is pretty great so I'd love that. I always liked Heretic more than Doom.
