I'm lazy and know nothing about building computers, and I don't think I plan on learning how to any time soon.

What gaming computers would you guys recommend and what should I look for? Is this the right board for this? Or should I be going to /g/

1. We need to know your budget.

2. There are literally new cards coming out. A generational jump. For example the latest one we know of is 200 bucks and exceeds the level of a 300 buck card atm. So it's advised you wait a month or two.
>>
Intel i5 processor
cheapest matching motherboard
8GB DDR3 or 4 RAM, depending on your Mobo
GTX 970 or 1070
600W 80+ Bronze PSU
Pirated W7 Ultimate x64

There you go, you can play anything at 1080p/60fps, all high settings, for the next few years.
>>
>>339534153

>suggesting the 970

you want this guy to waste money on outdated garbage or something?

I was think something along the lines of 500 to 600. If that's possible. I've seen some good looking ones around that price.

Aussie here, I am also pretty much wanting to get a new rig. I've been told I should have a minimal budget of at minimum $1000 to start with, how accurate is this? Should I just go get parts from a cheap as fuck place like MSY or just buy an entire machine?

Yes

Poorfag here. Would it be a good option if I built a cheap PC, and change its parts once it gets old? I have a laptop now with FUCKING INTEL HD GRAPHICS, so I can't run shit and want a PC that can handle most stuff, even if at minimum.

I'm not american, I'm from Chile, but I have around $500.0000 (which is about $725 dollars, I think). What should I look for? I heard the motherboard is the most important part, but I don't really know.

Yes, you have a little over a week to rate and even the 1070 is better than the current top of the line TItan X/980 Ti, which both destroy the 1070. Tomshardware has some building guides. If you can into legos and know how to navigate a simple bios menu and turn on some preset settings you can build one. Toms vidya charts will show you whats the best bang for the buck on gpu/cpu choices. You will be paying twice what the system is worth becuz ur too lazy to plug some stuff in.

Just because you don't like anything, doesn't mean everyone is a niche gamer.

There are tons of great titles to pick from, and if you intend to enjoy any new games PC is the best place. Might as well have a Cadillac instead of a old Camry, consoles limit the ways you can enjoy most modern titles, Bethesda finally added light modding to consoles but it failes in comparison to PC platform, where everything can be modified and enjoyed.

That's also covered by part warranties, don't spill water on it or do something stupid with electronical hookups and its fine, my 10yr old nephew built his rig with no adult supervision by following videos on youtube, I just picked the parts and he did the rest.

It's a process of matching purpose built connectors that will only fit in the things they're supposed too, it's really no harder then a multi part lego set, modern motherboards have simple presets for everything and even set the clock for you.

The trickiest part at this point is the CPU cooler. Everything else is smooth sailing. And for that, you watch a video and follow the instructions that come with your cooler.
>>
>>339551094
Why would I get rid of the optical drive?
I use discs on occasion. Plus removing it is gonna be a pain in the ass because it doesn't quite fit right and I had to do some finagling to stuff it in.
Same with the cooler too actually, it barely fits.

For real, if OP was a mostly blind armless gimp it would be a challenge. The only thing requiring thought is wire management, finding a place to hide wires and getting the most space for airflow.
>>
>>339551607
If you have a decent case, the answer to that is obvious too: Behind the mainboard plate.
>>
>>339551607
>OP was a mostly blind armless gimp it would be a challenge.
Lets say I am. What now?
>>
>>339551282
Probably yes, this was a prebuilt I bought a few years back. Would it be worth it to invest in another HDD?
>>
>>339551841
Pay your local computer shop to build it for you.
>>
>>339551870
If you want fast load times? Yes. Very much so. That 5900 RPM drive can't make anyone happy.

For future reference: This is one of the points where prebuilds like to save money, hard drive speed. Because people don't know that it matters.

The other big one is the PSU, the third point is advertising with an oversized i7 and putting in a shit tier GPU.
>>

Where'd you get that desk senpai

f-fingers crossed
>>
>>339552486
"600w bronze" says nothing. I'm on a 620W bronze. That shit won't fail me, I have full faith in it. Because it's fucking Seasonic.

If you have a "600w" "bronze" chinese pile of cowshit, yeah, you better cross your fingers.

You'll be good friend, I have the same PSU for 2 years now, goin STRONK
>>
>>339552923
you never know, they might have used Seasonic as an OEM for your PSU
I have a Corsair 850 gold that is basically a Seasonic 850 gold in a different case
>>
>>339552923
You're fine. No need to expect problems. Still wouldn't recommend to bring it to its limits, but you probably won't.
>>
>>339552071
It was a prebuilt I bought from a friend. But yeah, he gimped out on PSU and I guess the HDD.
>>
Okay, updated
Less shit mobo and RAM (i think, as a noob)

Again, will substitute 970 with 1070, I don't see it on this site

If you don't build your own computer not only are you a cuck, but you are going to get something several hundred dollars overpriced with shittier components than something you build yourself.
>>
>>339553654
then get a console and don't shit up the PC community
>>
>>339553570
why that particular MB, if you don't mind me asking
>>
>>339553570
That's a good build, it'll serve you well. With room to expand, too. The board is good, even a little on the "too good for your build (because intended for overclocking)" side, but not much.

What I'm not a fan of is the case, I prefer fractal design's understated styles. I don't know how good that particulary one is. I guess you picked it for a reason.
>>
>>339551285
is ds9 worth a watch?
>>
>>339554331
have you watched Voyager?
>>
>>339553852
Not much favor for it, really. Decent price as far as I can see. There's another I'm considering though, I hear this one has a bad, troublesome I/O shield, but of no significance outside setup. As a new builder, I'd prefer to avoid inconvenience.

>>339553997
The case was inexpensive, and reviews said good things about cable management. Looks pretty fine to me too. I might glance at some others, but I won't fuss too much over it if it has the space I need.

if you're going to use a locked i5, which is actually a really good choice, I wouldn't be spending more than $150 for a MB, and I'd be looking in the $100-130 range for an H170 board with the I/O i need or a cheapo Z170 with a Realtek ALC1150

People can do more than gaming on their PCs, anon.

You won't be able to run anything current. You'd be better off buying a console and a nice TV.

$600 is quite possible

With the 480 just announced, buy the fucking 480
>>
>>339555164
okay, you my bro now for mentioning B5
Voyager is more like TNG
D9 is more like B5 but takes itself more seriously and doesn't have the same level of political infighting like you'd see between G'Kar and Londo
>>

I'd get better performance from a used, cheaper 980ti
