Still worth playing though.
Some bullshit puzzles but pretty fun. I only played the Curious Village.
The DS was a good chapter of my life, comfy games and everything on it seemed fun.

Plot is bullshit. Original trilogy goes for plausible future technology to justify it's plots. Prequels go off magic bullshit.

The 3D was fine. It was a bit jarring during Miracle Mask but Azran Legacy nailed it perfectly. Shame it was the last game and we couldn't see more.
Plus, being 3D added new neat stuff for puzzles.
Own the curious village but only put about 2-3 hours into it, I regret stoping it and might tey to start it up again after I finish cave story.

They kinda fix this in the 3DS games by giving you a magnifying glass to slide around the screen and click when it lights up to show a point of interest or hint coin.

A lot of things are unresolved at the end, Don Paolo is still free and there's a sequel bait that will never go nowhere because they went to the prequel trilogy and now the franchise is dead.
I got the Mask of Chaos one from some Nintendo deal. Pretty fun, hope to finish it some day but puzzles aren't my thing so its a now and then thing.

Also the ending was meant to be open. Just show Layton embarking on a new adventure with Luke. I think it was a perfect ending as it was, and making a direct sequel to Layton 3 would ruin that ending.

Well, Miracle Mask was a parody of Count of Monte Cristo, so it's natural it was cliche in some stuff.
Was still a nice heartwarming story and finally and ending that isn't melancholic
