It's mediocre. There's a lot of good parts but even more bad parts. Just make sure you get the SOTFS edition of the game as it's improved slightly and comes with the DLC which most people seem to think is the best part of the game.

Just beat him today, Use a shield and block all his attacks. Learn off his moveset and retreat at the right time to regain stamina.
Basically after two or three moves in some cases you get a chance to attack or heal, keep doing that until gg.
He can even get tripped up where you Riposte him for a good chunk of hp.
A shield makes this fight a piece of piss, blocking his attacks does not damage you very much. I was using a medium shield don't know about the others when it comes to damage.
Hardest part of this fight was the awful camera in the first phase.

Cestus is only bullshit if you're running a garbage build that can't adapt to a parry spammer. Get 16 STR and 18 DEX and run with the astora greatsword as an alternate weapon. You now have an unparriable standing r1 and a great estus punisher with L2-R2.
