DRM can always be cracked by humans because it was created by humans, it just takes time and effort. DRM is worth it to publishers because it normally takes so long to crack it that a lot of pirates give up and buy the game before it is cracked.
If anything ever stops piracy, it'll be the game industry creating something like the RIAA or MPAA and lobbying for stricter enforcement of the law.

Only the the most tech savvy pirates look into things like getting a VPN and shit, but even that's not perfect because law enforcement can tell the VPN provider to give them the pirates info.

I even fucking bought fucking fallout 4 just because I played more than enough to be past that point of "I know what this game is time to pay or never fucking play again"
The only game I haven't ever paid for is Vamp: Masquerade, and that's because I literally cant give its developers money. If the people who worked on Troika are avaliable somewhere I'd love to paypal them retail price because fuck me I love me some vamp.
