Why is there no really good sci-fi action RPG? Is it because those that go all-in on the sci-fi just turn into third-person shooters with RPG elements?

Will CDPR be our savior in this regard?
>>
>>339448862
Does the Deus Ex series not count?
>>
>>339448862

Maybe CDPR should make a good game first before you pour all your hope into them?

Mass Effect? OP either cant have fun or he hasnt played many games yet

The Technomancer comes out soon

Isn't that game cancelled already? :^)

So edgy
>>
>>339448917
Deus Ex is cyberpunk, not sci-fi.
>>
If only MGS V was in a city or urban area instead of bland emptiness.
>>
>>339449247
cyberpunk is sci-fi, though
>>
>>339449175
And its not edgy acting like all sci-fi RPGs out there are bad?
>>
>>339449247
OP post is called Cyberpunk 2077 retard
>>
>>339449247
Sci-fi is a setting
Cyberpunk is a narrative genre

I will admit it's more the action part I was concerned with over the RPG part
>>
space exploration is difficult to pull of when you also need 3rd person shooty tooty sections
Bioware did it ok but they're a huge studio.
>>
Doos Sex counts and Cyberpunk will most likely be great.

That will make all of two good ones.
>>
Mass Effect was great tier. The third game had such a good ride. People got so hung up on the internet personalities railing against the last 5 minutes of the game, that they forgot they had their own opinions. The ending was mediocre, but that still means the game as a whole was great. Hell, I didn't even mind the ending.

Going by the Witcher series, Cyberpunk will be a shallow RPG

here's your response.

>>339449882
well who knows if they'll live up to their promises, but they're planning on custom characters and multiple classes, at least
>>
>>339449875
That's a third person shooter though

length does not determine depth

that's like, one of the most fundamental concepts of geometry

Running around a barren open world doesn't make a good RPG, by your logic FO4 is a good RPG
>>
Quickly name one(1) 3rd person fully voice acted rpg that isn't "shallow".

pls tell me your all-powerful open world game, sempai.

Anachronox is the only game that comes to mind.
>>
>>339449882
Witcher games have always had troubled leveling systems, but never shallow

Witcher 3, even with the stupid limit on active skills, manages to every dynamic with its system. Build specializations can turn you into powerhouses, each specialization has several of its own unique builds, and NG+ skill point levels allow you to create ultra OP hybrid builds

So like GTAV

it is an inherently flawed system of world design

Let's keep the shilling to a minimal please.

Why are they shooting at the girl and/or guy when he clearly has the situation under control?
>>
>>339450681
They're american police.
I know its hard to understand for europeans but in a country where 100% of population has guns the first one to shoot wins.
>>
Retards who complain about open world are explorers not because they like exploring, but because they like loot. And just like real life, there's very little valuable loot to be found strewn about the forest floor.

For the very retards in attendance: exploration is its own reward. If you need an incentive to explore, you evidently don't enjoy exploring, and if you don't fundamentally enjoy something, you ought to stop shitposting when you already yourself understand there isn't anything that can be done about it to appease and satisfy you.

If I wanted to look at pretty things in the world I'd watch a movie or better yet, explore in the real world

Although I will admit, the only major flaw in Witcher 3's open world is the map markers for undiscovered stuff, turning those off made it feel more organic
>>
>>339450393
>>339450625
These things don't make up a RPG

you know actually ROLE PLAYING, making choices that change that shape the world and other characters, and a character without a predetermined story, look, and voice so you can ROLE PLAY as whoever you want
>>
>>339451458
>If I wanted to look at pretty things in the world I'd watch a movie or better yet, explore in the real world
You are now realizing that exploration in the real world is not as simple as saying "I'll just explore in real life". Things such as trespassing, food, wildlife, illness, and worst of all: it wasn't "designed" with anything in mind. There isn't anything cool for you to uncover or some unlabeled ruin to stumble across, besides a dilapidated country home fallen into disrepair. Of course I'd also be limited in explorable environments to my immediate area, which is (country-side plains) unimpressive, as opposed to being limited in my options for exploration by literally whatever my wallet can pay for.

"If I wanted to explore I'd go outside!" means nothing, or do you live right next to Chernobyl AND a magnificent fjord?
>>
>>339451941
no but I'm within a 4 hour drive of the high desert and alpine forests, and I can literally walk to the ocean
>>
>>339452242
>driving 4 hours just to
I'd rather click an .exe. Open world isn't going anywhere.
>>
>>339449247
Cyberpunk is a subgenre of Sci-fi you retard.

I just want an open world game that does not make use of objective markers.

I would be super-down for basically a fantasy RPG wearing sci-fi clothes
