But the actual problem here is that while we're used to the toughness of the Boss and Gat; Carlos just wasn't on that level, at all. His wounds were significant. Realistically, he had no way to survive this, probably not even the drive to the hospital. Even if he'd made it there, he'd probably just have died there. I don't think even in SR2's world of magical plastic surgery they can do full body skin and muscle replacements.

Saints Row 2 was the pinnacle of the series. It had the right balance of fun and serious with a genuinely interesting/colourful cast of characters. It really is a shame to see the direction that the series has taken.

They were probably sick of being called a GTA knock off, which is a shame because they were really good at it. Saint's Row 2 felt like more of a continuation of the style of GTA III than SA did. SA is pretty objectively the better game, but SR2 felt more like the crazy nonsensical fun I used to have with GTA III where as SA felt like a huge fleshed out open world with lots of stuff to do but a more serious tone. I don't know what it was exactly but in both GTA III and SR2 it was just a joy to run around causing random mayhem. The GTA games after SA lost that completely, running from the police was more of a hassle than a fun activity. SR3 and 4 ruined it by alternating between the enemies being very bullet-spongy in the early game and complete push overs after you've leveled up in the late game. SR2 and GTA III really struck the perfect balance that made unstructured mayhem a lot of fun. VC and SA pulled it off somewhat as well but they didn't nail it to the same extent, although they did other things better that more than make up for it.
