What is the best game you've played in your entire life?
Civilization 4.

Crysis

Witcher 3

I'm guessing by best you mean the one I had the most fun playing.Space Marine. Being a walking post-human killing machine, tossing Orks and Heretics around while beating them to a pulp, and hearing 'FOR THE EMPEROR' when shit got real was great. Also Titus is a cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything.

>thinly veiled rec thread
Why do we find this acceptable? Just go to the 3x3 thread if you want recs. There's usually one running.
I've had Thief 2 as my #1 for awhile.

>Why do we find this acceptable?
Because this isn't /a/, you autist.

Warcraft III
No game will ever come close to occupying as large a part of my life as Warcraft III. It's not even that I played it that much, there was just so much in my life that tied into that game, and the game was so good too.
quake 3 arena
"best" is too broad of a description.
one of my favorite games which i appreciate design-wise is majora's mask.
others include donkey kong country 2, super mario rpg and bonetown.
technically bonetown shouldn't even be on this list, but it's so damn fun i haven't found anything like it ever since.
Kirby motherfucking Superstar
Sly 2. Short of glory days of gaming nostalgia, I just can't really find any real flaws with the game. It's consistently fun every time I play it, and it's my go to game when I want to be refreshed after playing other shit for months.

Idk why, but I just did not enjoy this game as much as I thought I would. Idk why, I found it frustrating to play, I found Titus way to squishy was a major part.
But the jumppack was 10/10
Probably Witcher 3 or DOOM
is everyone purposely saying different games just to be hipster
shadow of the colossus and bloodborne are way way up there
melee, too; maybe animal crossing, honestly (although i know that prob sounds like a weird choice)

Early on without the Iron Halo (And in some portions after) he was pretty squishy, most likely because of how health regeneration was managed(You could still take damage during executions.),since it forced you to play for close combat though IIRC Multiplayer did health differently and it felt much better.
Phantom Dust. Too bad the squeal is fucked.

if i had to pick one though it's UT2k4. The first time playing was like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou6JNQwPWE0
Gaming would never be the same.
That's a very hard to define thing. If its what I've spent the most time in it would be Pokemon Diamond (just under 700 hours got really into breeding for a while). If its what gives me joy and turns me into a giddy school girl and not the cynical asshole I usually am that changes every couple of years (Currently Overwatch which was previously Persona 4 Golden).
>>339435490
This is hard just because of the number of games I've played. Favorite series:
Deus Ex
Suikoden
Breath of Fire
Total War
If I was restricted to only playing games from these series I'd be fine. Everything else can take a flying shit for all I care, despite 2 of them being dead.

MGS 1/2
SH2
Maybe its because it came out when I was a little shit, but super Mario world was the most fun I've ever had playing a game.
As an adult I'd say the most fun I've had in a game was playing call of duty with my friends.
The best game is shadow of the collosus or portal 2.
Go ahead and roast me for pleb/normie taste. I'd rather be honest than try to impress you anyways.
>>339435490
My all time favorite game is Kotor 1, with ME 1&2 right behind it. Old school Bioware was pretty great.
Those excluded,
RTS: Red Alert 2
WRPG: Oblivion
JRPG: Tales of Vesperia
Tactical: Final Fantasy Tactics, XCOM: EU/W
Sport: NFL Blitz
FPS: Halo 2
TPS: Battlefront 2
Platformer: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
MMO: Runescape '07
Mobile: Rage of Bahamut before it died
Handheld: Pokemon Gen 2
I can't really think of any other genres off the top of my head
>>339440523
I hope they make the smart move and do a HD remake of 4, 5, and 0
To put into perspective how much I love this game after achieving all 101 bottlecaps, I have thus started a new save file to do it all over again. This game just clicked with me on every possible fucking level.
Sleeping Dogs. The plot was great, radio stations were great, driving didn't pretend to be realistic and was just plain fun, all the missions were cinematic without sacrificing gameplay for it, and environmental attacks are just as great as the first time I played it.
>>339441328
>the holy trinity bundled together into one
Yes please
Fable 1.
The whole choose your own ending thing was pretty sweet at the time. Even though it had invisible walls all over the place, it was still great and had an excellent story.
Age of Empires II is a close second.

Sadly wasted many years of my life on that game. In /v/ category probably tony hawks pro skater 4 on ps1. Second game ever and got me hooked on the series and skating for life

Okami is the best game I've ever played.
Paper Mario.
It cost my family 900 bucks when I was a kid and I still love it.
>>339440523
I don't even know what game that is referencing (terreria? Played that nerd shit for like an hour) but it made me smile

Shadow of the Colossus HDFuck the original's framerate problems. That shit was unbearable. Climbing those giant fuckers with smooth framerates was amazing.

Fallout: New Vegas
Mgs
Every single fucking one of em.
>>339442470
Portal and portal 2 both were great games. Portal 2 was funnier to me. It took the original and expanded on it with the puzzles having more tools in the toolbox (goo). It was everything a sequel should have been. Plus the level design (not the puzzles themselves) was breathtaking. The sense of immersion was great. It obviously wasn't as groundbreaking since it was a sequel, but I can't think of anything the original actually did better.
>>339442645
Dad takes me overseas on an "all expenses covered" buisness trip, but I'm too small to go anywhere by myself, and he is busy during the entire day, so I spend most of the trip in the hotel suite. Hotel suit has a game function on the TV that allowed you to play N64 at 6 bucks the hour. I spend two week s playing Paper Mario non-stop. Last day the check comes and we're informed the trip doesn't cover luxury spenditures.
Needless to say my dad wasn't happy.

>>339443352
Literally the only thing the original did better was allow turrets to see through portals.
The boss fight sucked, having a scene where there's fire entities everywhere was stupid since that's by far the most performance intensive thing in the game, a lot of the puzzles were timing based, and there was little environmental work which is a pity because I find underground environments super cool.
3D Avernum would be heaven.

Good reply; I like you
If our society seems more nihilistic than that of previous eras, perhaps this is simply a sign of our maturity as a sentient species. As our collective consciousness expands beyond a crucial point, we are at last ready to accept life's fundamental truth: that life's only purpose is life itself.
