Soldier and Mccree are the most versatile characters in the game, but mccree is the only one who can kill the entire cast at the press of a couple of buttons in two seconds as long as he surprises them. He'll he doesn't even need to surprise, roll forward to gain distance and throw flashbang. It's piss easy.

I've had several deflect kills against fan the hammer. I just wish deflecting the stun bomb was more beneficial. Done and done. If he wants to dump two fans he has to expend 2 cooldowns to burst down either 1 tank or 2 people.
So many people don't seem to understand that he is literally designed to be a tank murderer/tracer-genji counter. Problem is they allowed him to keep using his fan on a per reload basis so he can literally mow down teams at close range. All he brings is damage, nerf that and he is strictly worse than every other offense hero, but I have a strong suspicion that people just want him nerfed because they are butthurt he can 1v1 anyone and come out ahead because they play this game like CoD and lone wolf.
In comp play he's busted because Lucio and hero stacking, Hero stacking is honestly the biggest problem this game has and will continue to have. After Mcree is nerfed you'll see nothing but genji/tracer/winston stacks instead.

Zarya has laser so she can bypass his deflect. She doesn't kill him as easily as Winston or Symmetra but he in no way counters her.

I've recently taken to playing Widowmaker, but I don't play her like anyone else I've seen. I basically use her as a super-vertically-mobile Soldier 76, always either contesting the point if it needs to be and dropping poison bombs in the enemy's path, or changing position every shot or two.
Getting four golds as a sniper means your team was absolutely worthless, though.
The real tank killers are the supports desu, primarily Zenyatta and Symmetra.

He has the highest pick rate because hero stacking and lucio speed boost. He's picked because offensive teams can just speed boost his slow ass into melee range instantly to burst people down and then continue to burst with repeated fans.
Fan is the problem, put a cooldown on it that resets with roll and he'd be fixed. It would stop him from bursting an entire team, instead he would do what he was supposed to do(burst a tank or win a 1v1) instead of just chain gunning down everyone within 10 feet.
