Also interesting to note about SH series, Konami only allowed it's development as an answer to RE since Capcom was killing it with RE sales. In fact Team Silent was made up of literal Konami developer rejects. Konami likely wanted the game to be much different then it turned out being (perhaps this is why the series has become such ass) because their primary concern was having an answer to Capcom's RE series.
The sole reason why SH was so great in the first place was completely not thanks to Konami at all. In fact there is this one guy whose name I can't remember atm literally deserves the thanks for doing much of the work for the 1st game. Thank Team Silent for why it was good. The only two big games released in the past fiscal year by Konami Digital Entertainment were MGSV and PES. The rest is mobile garbage and arcade, which actually does surprisingly well.
Pachi-slots actually lost money. Twice as much as they gained last year. I thought maybe it was possible they were producing even more pachinko knowing the other profits would offset the cost. However, when you compare the loss in revenue compared to last year from other anon's statement (2.6 billion yen) to the loss from the year (1.1 billion yen), it becomes apparent that they actually REDUCED their overall expenses in this segment and still did 200% worse than last year. I wish I could say that was all, but there's this little disclaimer in the report:

I love a lot of classic Konami stuff, and I do think that a few of their series could deserve another game or two, but the obsession with sequels in video games is tedious. Take Castlevania. Whether you're a classic fan or into the Igavanias to there have been quite a few. Same goes for Metal Gear and probably Goemon. Even with Silent Hill there have been at least three great ones.
Nothing lasts forever, and perpetual sequels aren't necessarily a great idea.

There was never a revisit to Classicvania besides the Wiiware title which isn't enough. Hell, I would have KILLED for a Bionic Commando: Rearmed style remake of almost any of the classicvania games on a modern system. Sure there's plenty of games in the series, but it has been dominated by one style of game for like the past 20 years which to me sucks.
Also fucking Contra, Arc Systems Works got to make Hard Corp and did a whole bunch of fucking crazy awesome interesting shit that made Contra fresh and new with tweaks and twists on the design and it was amazing, but we'll never get to see that ever again.
Basically, fuck you. The idea that because there's already stuff to play so you shouldn't want new stuff that is just as good is fucking ridiculous. Like Metal Gear being dead is kinda fine since that series has said everything it wants to say and is at this point pretty much as complete as it could possibly be, but there is SO MUCH SHIT from so many other games that could be done and games that never got the chance to become a big mainstay series that it's hard to not feel disappointed or like you're being ignored.

Last year they made almost half as much profit from vidya, primarily on mobile games, while simultaneously footing the bill for a full year's worth of MGSV's infamously bloated expenses.
This is all just a sign of the times. The bottom line is that in the AAA industry it's too hard for the east to compete with the massive western marketing machine aimed at the lowest common denominator. The most hype game wins, and anyone with half a brain can see the majority of media coverage goes to generic western AAA games that cater to American normalfag sensibilities.
