People are willing to settle for low quality as long as it's consistent. People crave consistency.
Just keep putting stuff out, that's all it takes.
It helps if you have a schedule, especially one that lines up well with that of your target audience. If you put out a video Friday evening, then that dweeb who's sitting at his pc alone is gonna stumble upon it. Odds are, he'll be in the same place at the same time next Friday. Eventually it'll become habit.
Inconsistent schedules is what kills this sort of thing. For example, look at the webcomic F@nboy$. I used to read that every update. Sure, Scott would miss a post once in awhile, I think he was going through school.
Once his brother, unfortunately, passed away, Scott's passion clearly faded. Updates got very inconsistent, and he lost many casual readers. He's still an awesome, top-notch artist and an extremely funny dude, but you're not gonna make money doing something if you can't bring yourself to do it anymore.
It's all about presence.
