How does this game hold up now? Is it even playable on newer systems?
I played through it fine on windows 7. You'll have to fuck with the shortcut line to play it windowed, though and you'll probably want a utility to speed up combat.

Wiz8 in comparison feels like massive adventures in a dangerous and a unique world. Also had a fairly unique take on fantasy instead of just the usual crap from other games.

Never played them. I also never finished 8. I honestly thought it was a great game and I'm planning one day to play 6-7-8. I think you can transfer you party. Mite be cool.
This game proved to me once and for all that enemy scaling is a dumb fucking idea. It still holds up for the most part, though.
the difficulty in this game is a fucking rollercoaster. you get raped by bandits just going to the first town, and every time you think you've finally gotten stronger it throws something more bullshit at you.
