Not him, but fields tend to be "field paint only" and then charge you $60+ for a case of shitty garbage tier paint that you'd pay maybe $30 tops for at a pro shop. You'll only go through a case in three rounds in you're playing rapid tournament ball or something though, if you're just dicking around in the woods a half case (1000) should last you all day.
It's still a lot of fun and worth doing every now and then, it's literally playing a non-hitscan FPS in real life. My field does all sorts of objective modes and has props for bomb planting, control point flags you can change between red and blue, etc

A while ago, if you forked over a small fortune you could afford a marker that was close to basically being a machine gun in terms of paintball, extremely rapid fire with very good accuracy and distance.
The fattest kid on the team would then stand at the back of the field (usually an area with inflatable cover) and just lay cover fire all over the course while his teammates did the real work.
