Splatoon is still active and getting updates, though ranked is infested with Japanese players so you might want to find a group of people to play with and stick with squad battles. Smash Bros is decent if you have a Wifi adapter and a decent controller. Mario Kart 8 could still be active but I haven't played it for a few months.

Also there's Pokken I guess, but I don't know if there was a huge player dropoff or not, I never bought it.

Splatoon is highly active and super addictive. Has a short single player but multiplayer is where it's at.

Smash & Mario Kart 8 are okay too.
