Tournament players that give cards, if you lose, you can't play them again to get the card. If a card player dies you can't play them for their card. Bloody Baron comes mind, but I think in his case the card is still in his Study.
Did they do much with the game itself in the expansions? Or can you play other players? Near the end of the base game I was just wrecking everyone with no challenge.

Bait out all their cards the first round and use decoys to save your really good cards you used to bait in the first round. Better yet, use scouts to obtain more cards, after baiting out their good cards.
In Gwent it is better to lose the first round and then destroy them in the 2nd and 3rd. By the 3rd round, if you baited and used scouts, you could have like 6 cards while they only have 2.

Well since this is a Witcher 3 thread, can I just say how much I fucking hate the god awful leveling progression in this game?

>Actual combat gives you almost no experience, I can kill 20 guys on a beach not get any sort of meaningful experience. This is probably my biggest issue with the game so far other than the constant use of Batman vision

Agreed, this is made even worse if you actually go around clearing all the zones of bandit camps since you're going to skyrocket in levels over a few hours. The main questline never felt too easy for me though, the problem was that all the side quests surrounding it were either 10 levels lower or 10 levels higher.
I wish the game had some sort of scaling when it came to lower level quests, being offered a level 3 quest when you're 15+ isn't all that fun.

There's no excuse at all for combat giving you almost no worthwhile experience, even if you kill enemies 4+ levels above you. It almost actively discourages you from exploring.

Yeah it's pretty awful. If you're on PC there's mods that let you change the level of monsters to your level or above, as well as all the gear. It pretty much takes levels out of the game completely and you can just do whatever you want but keep the difficulty

Some of the early games with AI having superior decks is really hard, but after you get like 3 spies, you just bait the enemy to use as many cards in round 1 or 2 while dropping spies, then win other rounds with more cards

You trade 1 cards worth of power for two cards, its even better than that if you use one of the weak spy cards, especially the hero one that has 0 power, its just two cards for free. And if you werent planning on winning the round anyway its not even worth one card for the opponent. Also it takes a turn to play it which forces your opponent to also play a card so you can force him to waste cards in a round you werent planning to win anyway
