>Single Player Game
>Buying the retail version still forces you to use steam
What's her name /v/?
All of them.
Pretty much anything AAA/AA these days
>there's no disc inside just a cdkey

What's the issue?

If the game is single player only and has no steamworks integration whatsoever, why would they force an intrusive DRM on retail copies?
>>339365928
Because
>muh steam is PC gaming
>muh piracy
>>339365928
Is Steam intrusive? I've never felt that way.
And considering most pirates' motto comes down to, "Why would you buy a single player game?" some form of DRM is appropriate.
>buy game on Steam
>you need to run uPlay as well to play it
>>339366281
Steam is pretty easily one of the least intrusive forms of DRM, and since DRM is unavoidable and I don't live in a third world country, I'm fine with digital shit on steam.

Automatic updates nigga

for publisher
>publisher releases game on steam because everyone does
>steamworks come with its own very basic DRM system
>publisher decides to make all versions steamworks, so he doesn't have to pay for DRM at all
>and he doesn't need to care about patch distribution system, because steamworks has its own
for player
>DRM so basic and non-intrusive, many don't even consider it as one
>can download updates second they're released
>most basic issues are immidietely covered in built-in forum
It's pretty good deal, unless publisher either decides to be real dick, or is just woefully incompetent.

>Steam
>intrusive DRM
even Origin got their shit together, Ubishit might be the only intrusive DRM left, but I haven't touched them for a long while now so I wouldn't know
>The retail version only includes a code to download from steam
It's been a while since I bought hardcopies, but Skyrim is last one I remember. Was pretty great getting the game few days early, but still not being able to play it because it wasn't fucking active on Steam.
