Neither of them are big enough to cause camera problems with lock on, except for maybe mega Ornstein. Since Ornstein can break in and out of a dash really quickly, it helps to be able to quickly sidestep it.
Honestly, this wouldn't be an issue if you could just toggle strafe movement (i.e. - forward / back / strafe left / strafe right like an FPS) instead of lock on. You would have to track opponents on your own, but would have to worry less about exposing your back when moving.
